Amazing pakora and sambar from this restaurant. Vegan options clearly marked. I was asked how spicy I wanted the sambar and was delighted when it came as hot as I specified. I thoroughly recommend La Mere.

The name could fool anybody, but La Mere is not a sea food eatery. They serve a combination of Indian, Arabic and Mediterranean cuisine and what attracted us was the availability of vegetarian food. When we visited we found to our pleasant surprise that most of the kitchen as well as serving staff were from India and turned out to... More

Visited the restaurant with my family this afternoon. I was turned away a table as i had my 18 month old son with me. I was told it is management policy to not allowed under 8's in. What a load of rubbish!!!! Never ever heard of a restaurant turning away kids, specially at lunch time. All indians should avoid this... More

Enjoyed both meat and vegetarian thali. Restaurant does both Indian and middle eastern cuisine but sadly couldn't get a table another evening to try the middle eastern food. Make sure to book especially on a Saturday.

an amazing restaurant in the capital of malta. food is superb and reasonably priced. don't go there if you want quick food. the food is prepared on the premises so a bit of patience is required but well worth the wait

Great restaurant?  Not Really I felt a bit hungry after visiting the St. John's Infermary around 3pm and saw the "open" sign. But when I walked in the host said the place was closed and "please come back at 7pm for dinner" and at such early time it wasn't necessary to have a reservation. I returned at 7:10pm and was... We eat Indian food regularly and this restaurant was recommended to us. We loved the food. Great flavours. I thought my mango fish dish was fantastic and my son loved the thali. Recommend.

We arrived 10 mins early and thought we were going to be asked to wait on the street but we were allowed to sit down which was fortunate as it was beginning to get chilly outside. The starters were good, especially the briwat djaj which was new to me - very light fried filo type pastry with chicken, raisins, almonds... More

La Mère is tucked away past the old 'Suq Tal' Belt'. Rustic wooden tables blend with Middle Eastern décor, matching the unique theme of two great cuisines - Indian and Middle Eastern. A small, intimate dining area, and flickering candles, give a warm, homely feel. However, the tables are spaced enough that you do not feel cramped. Servers are attentive and knowledgeable on the wide choice available in the menu. Here, our desire is to present a repertoire of authentic dishes, bursting with flavour, certainly a multi-sensory experience. The menu offers a broad selection of starters, allowing you to whet your palate with a Lebanese spiced lamb sausage, or enjoy mussels and chorizo in coconut milk. Mains are similarly varied, giving you a choice of curries, or perhaps king prawns or lamb chops cooked in the tandoor. Our new menu also presents a selection of main dishes with a fusion twist, such a marinated filet of fish wrapped in banana leaf. There is also a good choice of vegetarian, vegan, lactose and gluten free options. Besides we have introduced a menu degustation, an extensive wine list, cocktails and whiskeys and a broad selection of homemade desserts such as chocolate filled samosas with mango and coconut, assorted baklava, pistachio and ricotta briouats with halva ice-cream.
