Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Juices almost double the price as across the way at WHS. Despite having a receipt for items bought two minutes before and an unopened bottle, refused a refund on the grounds that there was nothing wrong with the product and the price was stated when bought. Indeed, however are there different rules for airport low-rate cafés compared to supermarkets where you are entitled to be refunded for unopened drinks when returned promptly with a receipt? It seems that this woman pictured thinks so, and has not an ounce of customer service manner or tact to convey that she basically doesn't give a damn. Of course, we are trapped here at the airport with limited options, why would she care if we are being ripped off? Very dissatisfied with both the service and the rip-off prices.

Good that they have vegan food options, though they were few (especially savory ones). One barley salad, a cookie and chocolate cake. I had the cookie, which was super nice and a soy iced latte. When I got the latte, it was in a take away (plastic) cup, though I had specified that I wanted to drink it at the table (so that I would avoid the plastic). They said they had to do it like this. I would be a happier customer if they offer more vegan savory food options and if they would not use unnecessary plastic. :-) Hopefully they change this in the future!

Once you have passed through to the airport departure gates, this is the only eat/drink place available. The food prices are high, For example, a sandwich is 5.50 euros. The coffees, on the other hand are a modest 2 Euros. If you have 90 minutes or so before departure, it is better to stay the other side of the pass-through to the gates. There is then a much better selection of outlets.

Sunday 9th July, around 11am. Very busy. Good and efficient service by the young lady at the cashier. Baristas seemed overworked, going flat out, but still making very good chai lattes, and when we got our order, I thanked them and wished them a good shift (seeing how overworked they were). They replied very nicely. Unfortunately, the man attempting to keep the tables clear and clean clearly has some issues. He was shoving the chairs about violently, banging the plastic container containing dirty cups and saucers very hard, startling me, and clearly not being nice at all. He was actually intentionally scaring patrons away. I feared he was about to hit someone, so I told the others with me to move to somewhere else (and we did). Unfortunately, the same man passed by (and pushing a trolley) while we sat at the Juice (smoothie) store, and he uttered something to the effect, "This is totally crazy." I used to like to go there regularly, even though I prefer the Starbucks outlet (10 minutes on foot from where I stay, ...instead of the struggle and traffic to get to the airport). Next time we happen to be there, I will first check if this man with *apparent* mental health issues is there, before I line up in the long queue. If we pay 5€ per chai latte, I expect that I and whoever is with me actually get to enjoy it. I tried to reach out to Costa Coffee Malta through their website (because of the people I go there with) but it was clearly not working. I sent an email to the CEO, who emailed me for my number and then promised to call me back, but she never did. Just beware of that man.

The cost of a bottle of water or a 500ml bottle of soft drink is at least twice the price as normal. A 500ml bottle of water cost €1.90. To put that in perspective in a store in Gozo I purchased 6x 2.5ltr bottles of water for €3.00. So to purchase that quantity of water at Costa prices would have cost me €57.00. Or put another way it was 19 times more expensive. This type of rampant rip-off is really annoying as you are not permitted to take drinks through the security checks and the drinking fountains have been turned off. So your options for a drink are limited to this single shop, which is charging extortionate prices. Avoid if possible.

Costa Coffee in departures is usually very busy but they have a great and friendly service. They just redecorated the place and it looks lovely. The only issue is the automatic sliding door at the back. If it's windy avoid that area as every time someone opens the sliding door to go smoking a lot of wind goes inside that area. I suggest the management to activate only one of the sliding doors to open automatically on windy days.

Bit into my sandwich and to my absolute disgust there was a gone off piece of tomato with fur growing on it. Check your food there before you eat it.

The quality of the drinks has been AWFUL these past couple of years, the employees don’t even care about making the iced coffees correctly, nor do they even try to make it correctly- resulting in a very mediocre, overpriced coffee. (Coming from an ex barista)

Staff were amazing but rushed off their feet. Place is nice but the prices let it down. We purchased 2 coffees (€10) but didn't bother with food as it was so expensive! €6.50 for a sandwich & €4.50 for 1 cookie 🫨

It's really the only place to grab a range of food and drinks in departures. As such the place is always busy and the prices expensive.
