We lunched on a November Sunday, an English tour group of 15 having to compete for attention with two big christening parties for local families. You would never have known we weren't the only guests they had. Great food and masses of it, served with enthusiasm and skill. Good Maltese wines. My risotto with mushrooms and truffle oil was seriously... More

Starting off a long windy weekend in Gozo at Ta Frenc Restauranton the way down to Marsalforn. A warm welcolm and an excellent varied menu to choose from. The risotto in lobster bisque with scallops was a delight. Fresh fish and a lovely fillet cooked to perfection followed. Try the crepe suzettes in orange and drambui cooked by the table.... More

Excellent cooking and service. A truly 'European' restaurant. Dishes are varied and served with great style on the plates. The chef has a heart foor his work. And that is what you taste. It is nearing a Michelin star. Worth a visit when on Gozo!

My girlfriend and I visited for an evening meal on our last night of our holiday. The food was great, we both had the market menu and the wine selection was extensive. Good value, great service and would come again. The Nutella desert isn't quite as good as the sweet ravioli 😁

I visited the restaurant on a venue visit. It is a beautiful restaurant with local herbs being grown on the grounds, the food was delicious and the wine cellar can be hired for private use, it is simply beautiful, you must pop down there if you get the chance.

The story of Ta’ Frenc as we know it today is the story of two very young men, Ino Attard and Lino Cefai, who, more than 30 years ago, recognised in the crumbling limestone walls of this centuries-old farmhouse, a possibility, a dream, a promise, a renaissance. Literally stone by stone, step by step archway by archway, they restored the building without destroying its soul. Original features such as the animal mangers were retained and these are now a feature of the bar area. The high-ceilinged airy interior is divided into different areas by archways and screens. Mature trees were retained, and others planted. And thus they created Auberge Ta’ Frenc, which opened its doors to the public on 22 May 1982.
Checked red and white tablecloths, rustic French-style furniture and a classic French menu greeted their first guests, many of whom remain faithful customers today, of the internationally renowned restaurant now known simply as Ta’ Frenc Restaurant. Despite its name and pronunciation, Ta’ Frenc has nothing to do with France. It means Francis’ place; Francis was the farmer who owned the building.
