Visited the Horseshoe restaurant at the weekend where we had a pretty tasty dinner, pleasant surroundings and attentive staff. Only downside was the size of the portions, which after a 3 course meal was not very fulfilling. Have dined here a few times in the past but portion sizes seem to have got smaller. Additionally it can be quite expensive... More

Stayed last night. We were welcomed by mark the manager, shown to our room by himself and offered us tea/ coffee complimentary in the lounge. Declined as we arrived bit later than expected. Nice touch though. We never had evening dinner, however if breakfast is anything to go buy i assume it will be lovely. We have stayed here before but... More

We booked for Christmas lunch after hearing great things about this little spot, which is located in the back of beyond. The lunch took nearly 4 hours from entering to leaving, and was filled with cold, overly salty food. To say it was underwhelming is an understatement. Then, to make matters worse, a printed out quiz was pressed upon us.... More

Nice food if you don't want filled up because portions are small. Very overpriced and not obvious until you get the bill. £9 for a whiskey or vodka in coke. £30 for house red wine. Cmon that's ridiculous and a total rip off! How much profit is that! Was told it was a double measure after I emailed the Manager... More

Our second visit and this time with friends, one of whom has eaten at many of the star-attracting venues in Europe--he was very impressed. What we all particularly enjoyed was the creativity of the chef in offering local ingredients such as the humble potato--astounding taste ranges drawn from the combinations. Of course more luxurious offerings were in abundance, but it... More

Been driving past for years and finally managed to go in. Well worth the wait. Excellent food, great ambience in fine old building, with attentive service. A little gem.

15 years since I have been to the horseshoe , wish I had returned sooner!! Hubby and I went for a romantic meal . First impressions were that it maybe a bit oldy world but the overall feel of the place is that it's good old fashioned service and has a very relaxing ambience. We opted for the tasting menu... Superb place to visit for a meal. Our visit started with a seat in the lounge by the wood burning stove with a drink while perusing the menu. Then when WE were ready we made our way to the restaurant to be treated to a better than first class dining experience, the food was presented as if we were judging... More

Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.
