Disappointed with the quality for such a nice hotel

We live locally and therefore go to this cafe & bar for drinks from time to time. This is the first time that we have eaten there for a long time and we ordered the brisket and fish & chips. The meals looked nice on arrival and the brisket tasted fine. The fish however, was the cheap Vietnamese Basa fish which I knew the instant that I bit into it as it has a distinctive taste. This instantly disappointed me as I would expect such a hotel bar to serve better quality. Don't get me wrong, I am no snob and once over I used to buy Basa as it is the cheapest fish to be bought. After the media insight and articles regarding the farming of this fish and why it is cheap (basically injected with hormones in filthy river enclosures to make it grow as big and fast as possible) we have never bought it since. Will probably eat at home and just drink there in future unfortunately unless The Vines Resort decide to serve better quality fish......

Lovely area, not so lovely food

Lovely area and vibe, my partner and I went for dinner after playing the mini golf which was lovely. The drinks were more expensive than we anticipated and then when we both ordered a chicken parmi (priced at $29 each) they came out fairly raw. The waitress was so nice about it and brought us out new ones, however they were also raw. Such a shame as it was a nice place. Maybe stay away from a chicken dish.

Generous Sized Meals

Been here a couple of times and despite the knocks that the prices are too high (it is in a resort after all) both visits have been good. Steak sandwich (pictured) $32 was big and well made, very tender well seasoned steak, great chips. The Indonesian fried chicken dish was also good with a very authentic sambal (courtesy of an Indonesian chef). Overall, good venue with a small choice of pub meals that are executed very well.

Food very poor and bland

Food very bland - margarita pizza had no flavour at all and soggy, sharing platter all the meat on it was too chewy and tough, chips very plain and no salt. Service quite poor as took them over half an hour to clear our table away staff just walk around empty handed. Overall, not very nice food.

Two trips in three days to visit my daughter who was staying here as we live within walking distance. Firstly: the pool was filthy my 8 year old granddaughter said she couldn’t see under water with her goggles on , my 15 year old grandson confirmed this. He also said the attached spa was filthy and stank like sewage with a film on top. The restaurant ; 1st visit. Pizza base was soggy, when advised staff no follow up just “oh sorry” Waited 20 minutes for one of the meals to arrive, went and informed staff who said they would hurry it along, waited another 15 minutes still no meal and the rest of us had finished ours , went and got a refund. No apology just sorry I did ask the chef. 2nd visit, My family who were staying there again waited 20 minutes for their sons meal to arrive after theirs. It wasn’t even overly busy being a weekend day lunch time. Finally. And this is a normal set up they use. If you want to order a meal you cue for at least 10 minutes with one line and one person serving both drinks and food, whilst 4-5 other staff members flutter behind the bar. No organisation , open more pay stations, 2 for drink 2 for food, the service is disgusting !

The barramundi was the only positive

My wife and I booked a table at this cafe for an anniversary dinner. Firstly, all the furniture should be replaced as it is obviously the original with stains on the cushions and the chairs at the high table not solid. Our table had no tablecloth which surprised me as it would have covered all the large chips in the varnish. You order drinks from the bar and that includes asking for water. What cafe doesn't provide water as soon as you sit down? Our entree was bruschetta and I like bruschetta, but this was just horrible. We had to ask for plates as there is no way you would just eat it off a timber serving board. When the main meal came out, we had to ask for more cutlery the waitress going off but not coming back so we went and got our own. The barramundi was nice, but the broccoli luke warm and the tomatoes cold. The staff have no energy and have no idea of what customer service is. I have no idea of who the supervisor of this place is but they deserve to be either sacked or retrained. In conclusion the meal was expensive for what it is. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place!

My husband and I had two dinners

My husband and I had two dinners and one lunch at Vines Cafe & Bar. The meals were cooked to perfection and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. This restaurant was a perfect way to start our holidays! Seafood chowder was a great lunch as was soft shell taco and lightly dusted calamari! 😋 Turkish bread steak sandwich was enough for two but I ate it all 😬 Garlic Chilli prawn linguine yum Grilled free range chicken was a tasty delicate meal Sirloin steak was not as excellent as the other meals but we were spoilt! I would highly recommend this Cafe + Bar for a delicious night out!

Very disappointing

Very disappointed. Extremely overpriced for what was served , no wonder it was empty! Visited on a Tuesday lunch and only on the way out did we discover that there was a seniors special deal which the waitress failed to mention when we ordered . This wasn’t a first visit but it seems to have dropped the standard in service and food quite a lot in the last couple of years

Underwhelmed and over priced

My husband and I were out on a date night and were very underwhelmed by the meals we received . My husband ordered the smoked brisket sandwich which he ended up deconstructing and removing most of the filling . I ordered the fish and chips which came with no sauces for the fish or chips . I told my husband you can’t go wrong with Apple Crumble but apparently you can. There was no apple and definitely no crumble, it was a piece of fruit cake with blueberries and sultanas …. Definitely would think twice before having dinner here again.

Disappointing overpriced food.

The quality of the food was disappointing for the price. Had the prawn linguine, for $39. The pasta was overcooked and sticking together as if it had been cooked earlier in the evening and re-heated. My partner had the sirloin steak for $49, which was tough and not well presented. The quantities were OK, but the quality was just not there. Whoever was in the kitchen that night was asleep at the wheel.

Decided to avail ourselves of room service. On the Saturday night I ordered chicken parmigiana with chips and house salad. Delivered to our room in a takeaway container which was ok and contained a generous meal quantity. Chips and salad were fresh and tasty. Methinks the chicken parmigiana had been residing in a warm bain marie for some time, tough as if repeatedly reheated. On the Suday night we decided to order a few appetisers and forego a main. My wife enjoyed her soft taco with fish, avocado salso de Pico and salad. I selected the mushroom arancini with aioli plus chicken satay skewers and salad. All fresh, tasty and much improvement on thge previous night's meal. Pleasant staff.

The Vines Restaurant needs more foods on the menu to choose from!!

We have been to The Vines restaurant a few times. We stayed there after our engagement celebration which was held at The Vines. The food, atmosphere for our engagement was amazing, but I cannot say the same of the restaurant. Not enough food to choose on the menu. Dome restaurant has more variety of foods for you to choose from. After going there for dinner a few times we were very disappointed at the lack of good food to choose from. They need to expand their menu. A restaurant as such as The Vines Resort should have more variety of foods. The taste of the foods were also a disappointment. :(

Interesting setup - like a cafe i guess but in a nice resort, seemed a bit odd, the resturant was closed for some reason so had to only go here. There were lots of people there but I was told it was because there is nowhere else to eat out there as its far away. Food was average, like burgers and steak, no real effort in the food presentations

FAKE FOOS , MISLEADING MENU

After a round of golf , my mates and I decided to have some drinks and food . 2 of us ordered ribs and when they came out, they looked like ribs. The biggest shock was when I took a bit. These things are not ribs, but some strange synthetic concoction. Worst food of my entire experience at the vines .. They need to specify that the ribs are not real .

We were directed to this place after booking an Executive room ... its basically a public bar........ my wife was very disapointed it was the only place open in the Hotel.
