We has amazing food. It was traditional from the region. Fresh fish, caught on the same day. Good deserts. Fair price. Friendly staff. It was fully booked but we could sit with an elderly couple who came in at the same time. So advice: book...More

This restaurant adjacent to the harbor in scenic Stykkisholmur offers a cozy vibe, excellent service, and delicious food crafted to an extremely high standard. The mussels are fat, tasty, and local; the burgers are generous and on soft, house-baked buns. The meringue dessert is a...More

We eat here for lunch and had very tasty bowls of fish soup. You should book or get there early as they were turning people away at not long gone 12:30.

We arrived about 10:30 pm. They were painting the restaurant but it was filled with happy diners inside. (It was light out as we were there close to the summer solstice.) It is a very small restaurant (handicapped accessible) with delicious, fresh food and beautiful...More

This is a small, charming, friendly place that recognizes they are serving tourists yet feels as though you are part of a small town. It is very close to the ferry so likely gets busy at certain times but you know I must say it...More

What a terrific place in western Iceland. The village was very small, but the restaurant had all of the great food and wonderful staff you would have in larger cities. It was just across the street from our hotel. They had great choices of wines,...More

Everything was tasty here. We tried, fish, mussles, some meat as well as desert and we were absolutely delighted. It may be worth coming here before the afternoon ferry arrives else all the tables may be occupied.

Thank you very much for your review. Some hours are of course more busy than other - also when it's cold outside it can get very busy everywhere indoors :) Have a nice stay in Iceland. Steina & Sæþór

Description
Narfeyrarstofa restaurant and café is the oldest operating restaurant in Stykkishólmur. It’s a family business and is open all year round.

Narfeyrarstofa’s menu features inventive dishes served artfully in the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant, where utterly charming views from the premises bring life to the atmosphere. There is a strong emphasis on creativity in the kitchen, and it is safe to say that craftsmanship is held in high regard, as the ingredients are of the finest quality and sourced locally wherever possible.

Narfeyrarstofa’s chefs prepare all ingredients from scratch, and the kitchen makes use of a powerful meat processor as local meat is prepared in different ways for the various dishes on the menu. From the restaurant there are views over Breiðafjörður bay’s “natural pantry”. Ingredients from there are on the table every day, exceptionally fresh. Blue mussels from Breiðafjörður are always on offer when in season.

The menu also has a selection of hamburgers, proclaimed to be “the real deal”, “juicy” and “even better than búllaburgers” by our guests, who come back for them again and again! Our wine menu is unusually diverse and features specially selected wines of various types.

The restaurant is in a two-storey house built in 1906 in the heart of Stykkishólmur, by the old church that towers over Aðalgata. There is room for 70 people indoors, and it’s also possible to sit outside when the weather’s nice. The atmosphere at Narfeyrarstofa is warm and welcoming, and the staff and the owners do everything they can to provide outstanding service to their guests.
