The food was excellent, the service was excellent and the value was up to standard. We stayed at Hotel Vestmannaeyjar making the restaurant very convenient as it is on the first floor of the hotel. I highly recommend this restaurant!

For a little town, this was a surprisingly sophisticated restaurant. We stopped in at an odd time so we had the entire place to ourselves. We enjoyed a local beer (Brothers Brewing), and appetizer and a delicious lava cake dessert. The only complaint I have is that the dessert was too small!

Thank you very much for a lovely review! You say sophistication, we say….yes, thank you! That is what we aim for! We pride ourselves on local Icelandic food with an international flair and a personal service (our head chef likes to greet our guests when possible to step away from the kitchen). Our search for local herbs and ingredients isn’t... More

Our dinners were wonderful. However we were travelling with a 7 year old and the kids menu was terrible hence the 4-stars. The service also left a bit to be desired as our drinks were forgotten until after the food came. I think they were just overwhelmed but still not quite a 5!. Overall good food and worth a stop.

e went to this restaurant quite by accident .... that we received a recommendation to another restaurant ... and it was great .... from the very beginning. Cocktails, seats, plus design the smiling waiters .... everything was perfect last evening in Iceland. The food is very tasty. Even a vegan dish was perfect. Highly recommend

This is a great restaurant in a place you least expect to find one. Others have praised the lobster soup and the cod main course - (lobster soup - the chef has adapted his mother's recipe with seaweed and white chocolate and 12 hour simmered lobster to produce something truly amazing; the cod was a bit overwhelmed by the crispy... We had a wonderful meal at this lovely restaurant within Hotel Vestmannaeyjar. It was one of our favorites during a 16-day trip around Iceland. The lobster soup was by far the best we had (and we must have had it nine times during our trip). It's a secret recipe from the mother of the chef/owner and it has a hint... More

This little coffee shop also shares space with a book shop and is found just 5-10 mts. away from the ferry terminal. A wide range of coffees, frappes, and teas combined with nice little cakes and cookies, make this a super place to tank up before walking p to the volcano crater. Staff are friendly (if a little slow) and the... More

We had a late dinner and stumbled upon the place by accident as it was the last restaurant open. We ended up having our best meal of the trip around the country. My husband had the Monk Fish and raved about it. I am a vegetarian with food allergies, and was very happy to find many veggie options. I had... More

The restaurant Einsi Kaldi is located on the ground floor of Hotel Vestmannaeyjar. The house itself is a historic place, where a lot of establishments have been located, such as a cinema, a soda factory, a printshop and later on it was used as a storage building. The house collapsed during the volcano eruption of 1973 but was rebuilt again in 1975.

The owner of the restaurant Einar Bjorn Arnason ,,Einsi kaldi", local man, born and raised in Vestmannaeyjar, enjoys greatly to put his magic and imagination into delicious seafood-dishes and for that he is renowned. His interest in working with fresh fish is not really surprising since he is so close to one of our richest fishing grounds, which gives him the opportunity to obtain fresh products from the boats daily. He actually puts a great emphasis on obtaining his products locally, such as cliff- and seabirds along with various herbs picked on the Island.

During the summer Einsi kaldi, and his team offers a diverse menu from lunchtime to evening, seven days a week. At lunch the emphasis is on light and fresh dishes, such as soup, meet and of course fresh Icelandic fish and Danish Open Sandwiches.
In the evening variety is the name of the game and you can choose everything from appetizers to sumptuous meat and fish dishes, something for all tastes.
