We've been here after curiously reading on a website about this place as on of the last traditional places for cooking rude ancient Icelandic flavors and we had a fantastic dinner! The place is small and nice and the dishes are really good, both whale and fish soup!! We even tried fermented shark from the table near us :)

Simple food which is decent enough but little care taken over accompaniments or presentation (boiled veg and limp salad). Dull wine list, only one option by the glass. This place would be great if it ran as a pub with a pub atmosphere and pub prices. But with dishes starting at €40 it's overpriced, even by Icelandic standards.

While in reykavik we decided we wanted to try some local food so headed to this place. Once we found the place- its tucked away, we found the staff very friendly and the service very good. We hadn't made a reservation but luckily there was a table available. We had the smoked puffin and the whale for starters- the whale... More

I tasted all kind of dishes with whale meat. I tasted the shark and the puffin breast. All cooked in an excellent way. Good wine. Fantastic evening by myself. At the end I bought the recepies book written by the chef: Very friendly people.

Visited first time two years ago and revisit as the food was so special. Well, nothing has changed insofar as the food is still excellent. I had the fish soup and plaice. The fish soup was more of a seafood medley and quite salty, but I like saltiness so very good for my taste. Plaice was perfectly cooked, very basic... More

Great place if you want to eat authentic icelandic food...even their famous smelly Hakarl! We did not try that one but enjoyed some local pâté, some delicious herrings and cod. The place is really cosy with different small rooms. You have the impression you have stepped in someone's private home. It is a family restaurant and you can tell by... More

Like a lot of the visitors, I decided to pay a visit after reading about the restaurant and some of the interesting choice on the menu. During my visit, I ordered the smoked Puffin breast as starter, followed by the grilled horse tenderloins. It was my first time trying both type of meat, and I wasn't disappointed as both dishes... I went with 2 friends to 3 Frakkar thanks to tripadvisor. I didn´t know anything about the place and what a surprise! The waitress (2 of them) were really helpful and attentive with us as we were asking about many different dishes. We tried the rotten shark (can't remember the name of the dish) and it was difficult to eat,... More
