Great food at Ban Thai but the service seemed a bit inconsistent at the tables nearby. The place was full but only 2 staff were waiting tables. Don't know if this was a "one-off" or not. The decor seems very dark & dated compared with other city centre restaurants.

the restaurant is small and has only one person serving but the food is very good. We got in because we noticed the nice smell outside. The food was prepared from scratcha and fresh, not very abundant but tasty. The spiciness was fine when chosing a one-chilli dish ( cannot imagine how spicy it could get with 6-chillis. Service was... More

Visited here with a friend on our visit to Reykjavik. It was relatively expensive and the food was disappointing. Shared a platter starter which wasn't very appetising. My friend had the green Thai curry, while I had the red curry. There was lots of bamboo shoots but not much chicken and the curry was much spicier than what we'd tasted... More

Hello! We came to Ban Thai yesterday and the food was great but I have to say the service was not great. They were just not very helpful and it felt like we were a chore they had to get through. We came back again today just for some Thai iced tea for the kids but they said they could... More

Pleasant greetings and nice staff. We were seated quickly although we waited a while for the food due to it being cooked to order I understand. The decorating looked tired and a bit grubby, napkins were really faded, place needs a bit of TLC. I found it difficult to select from the menu as vegetarian dishes all had Tofu which... More

Quite cosy and a little bit unprepossessing but the food is great. Courses are rated by 1 to 5 Chillies and a 5 Chilli meal will definitely wearm you up. Well worth a visit.

It's been two weeks since I got back from an amazing trip to Iceland, and I still can't believe that it was in Reykjavik that I had the BEST Thai food I ever had. Lots of flavour, and great portion sizes. It's very close to the downtown "hub" and right next to the bus terminal.

We went here while visiting Reykjavik and we were pleasantly surprised. The food and the service was good! We were originally told it might be an hour before our dinner was served but it didn't take quite that long. When they say 5 is the hottest, they mean it...so please be careful when ordering

Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant as the best Thai food in Reykjavik. We were not disappointed. This is a small restaurant and we fortunately were there early with a reservation. By the time we left there was not an open table. The curry masaman chicken was excellent as was the pineapple fried rice. English is spoken and the waitstaff... More
