Tried the steak and was not disappointed. Plenty of food for a good price. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good and comfortable but not so cosy. So i would not recommend it for a romantic evening.

Four colleagues visited on the recommendation of two different friends and were not disappointed. Locally brewed beer was excellent as was the mixed shared starters. All the party had steaks which were cooked to perfection and all very good.

Me and the missus :) had the fixed menu. Three different starters, all of them interesting. The main course was beef, cooked exactly as asked, fries that words cannot describe and bernaise that was a little bit salty for my taste, having recently recovered from...More

Took my family to late night dinner on a Tuesday. We all ordered tenderloin and baked potato. Some had the bernaise sauce, others peppercorn sauce and garlic sauce. The steaks and all sauces were excellent. Service was excellent as well.

We went for dinner and thought it was very good. I had the beef tenderloin, triple dipped potatoes and corn on the cob. My boyfriend had the surf and turf and liked it. The dessert was the best part. We got the brownie with chocolate...More

Could not fault this restaurant at all, brilliant food, and staff were very friendly! Steak was cooked to perfection and the seafood starters were amazing, as was the strawberry / Toffee dessert!

We went here for my wife's birthday whilst in Iceland as we both enjoy steak. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the meals prepared very quickly in the open kitchen. It may look expensive, but when compared with everything else in Iceland,...More

This restaurant sounded promising.... I like a good steak and I had low expectations for beef on an island so well known for great fish. I was pleasantly surprised! This restaurant was outstanding! We started with duck confit appetizer and it was phenomenal. I have...More

Description
A five story concrete building that once housed offices on the upper floors and a metalwork company on the ground floor, now is the home of restaurant The Steakhouse on the ground floor, the four floors above are now apartments. The old harbor area of Reykjavik has in the last couple of years, changed in to a real gem where various cuisines, museums and arts and crafts have replaced the metalworks and fisheries. The newest addition is STEIKHÚSIÐ, which simply means „The Steak House”. The name is a deliberately this simple and descriptive, the aim is to be the only steakhouse you think of after the first visit. The heart of Steikhúsið is the coal oven from Mibrasa and the soul is our own way of tendering meat for at least 28 days. Those who seek for something purely Icelandic won’t be disappointed, Steikhúsið also caters to those who want the best of Icelandic lamb and fish.
