We were recommended to go to Forrettabarinn by one of our sons work colleagues and we are so pleased we took his advice. The restaurant is located just past the port area about a 10 minute walk from the centre of the city. We had...More

We went for an early dinner and sat on the bar side, as opposed to the kitchen/restaurant side. As a result, we experienced a sort of low-key, local hipster hangout kind of vibe, which made for fun people-watching. The cuisine was delicious and distinctive. We...More

Don't be fooled by the name, which translated means "small plates." Some portions, such as the best mussels I've ever eaten are more than adequate. Our group of twelve had a number of items on the menu, and not one complaint! There is a happy...More

From waiter to chef, friendly informative and helpful. Food: mussels, langoustine soup, smoked salmon fillet and homemade bread and tapenade each plentiful and delicious. We will return for lunch after our cruise. Great 1st meal in Iceland

Bearable prices for great food - go during happy hour for cheaper beer & wine. Langoustine soup is bsolutely superb as it lamb (melt in mouth). My wife eats like a horse and this time she had some! Staff friendly and efficient. Relaxed interior. At...More

One of the very few places in Reykjavík which is not overpriced. Friendly staff and good food. Choice of wine could be better but it is average. Place and food good!

It was such a nice restaurant. Things are expensive in Iceland, and I don't mind spending money if you get a good quality for the price. This was worth the price. The food was very good. There were 6 of us, we managed to get...More

Simply delicious! Everything was just perfect - we loved the hot smoked salmon, salad with little shrimp, and salad with duck and beats. The arctic char and cod were both delicious. Do note that there are two sides to the restaurant - a bar and...More

This trendy spot only serves appetizers which are interesting combinations and quite tasty. It is near the harbor so you can take a nice walk after dinner.

Forrettabarinn is a true gem in the oldest part of town, in the fresh sea air down by the harbor. Our wine and beer-list matches perfectly the spirit of the ever changing menu of our sometimes "experimental kitchen".We offer you exciting new angles to traditional dishes with a vibrant atmosphere and warm service.
