The food is ok but the athmosphere is great. Had rack of lamb last time and enjoyed it. Big piece of lamb with very little else that came with it on the plate. It was tasty, and plenty of food. Some of the other things I've had there have been fine but I would probably not order again.

Behind the solitary brown door lies a little hidden gem of a place in Kex. It can be hard to miss as it's not obvious where it is but if you follow good old Google maps you'll get there. When you walk up the stairs you're greeted with the smell of 1980's gymnasiums which was pure nostalgia in itself! Once... More

Discovered Saemundur restaurant and bar after reading about it and thought I would take a chance and find it. The entrance is a old brown door , up 2 flights of stairs to discover a hip, joint. Full of hipsters, backpackers, students and all ages. Vibrant atmosphere and if you go during happy hour cheap drink. Food was very good and... More

My friends and I visited Kex restaurant following recommendation. It's a super cool place inside that's got a relaxed and friendly vibe. We walked in and managed to get a table but I understand that you can also reserve. Yummy Icelandic food cooked to perfection! And the bonus is it's fairly reasonable compared to other places to eat in Reykjavik.... More

Really fun atmosphere, it was a Burns night so there was Scottish music and food (although we just stuck to the normal menu, the burger is really nice). Beer and wine was reasonably priced and the barman gave us a free shot of whisky which is much appreciated when prices are fairly high for booze!

Went with family and partner. Some of us don't like fish and one pregnant so menu choices were tricky, but this was perfect. Something for everyone. I had the cod which was beautifully cooked. The food came out very quickly and the wine was good!

GREAT atmosphere and really delicious food. We split several things...cream of mushroom soup to die for, some cheesy/Brie appetizer that was decadent, a couple different fresh salads, chunky fried potatoes, and loads of beer. Very positive experience. After we ate, we bought cheap tickets for a benefit concert being held in the same building. We saw five bands for $10.... More

We were recomended this bar by a friend and it didnt disappoint! Its a little tricky to find as it is just a brown door with a little sign saying kex. It has a really laid back atmosphere and is really cool. The drinks and bar snacks are lovely! Go here from 5-7pm for good deals on happy hour drinks... More

We nearly missed this place as entrance liked like was closed but we tried the buzzer and were let in. Rewarded with a hip and cool bar, lots of atmosphere. Interesting maps on the walls and memorabilia - loved it. Just stayed for drinks.

A group of 4 of us ate here for dinner on a Friday evening. The atmosphere of the place is great - it has a relaxed feel but with some upbeat music. The décor and furniture are casual and compliment the rest of the experience. It was busy with hostel guests, locals and other tourists which gave a good mix.... More
