This was one of our favorite spots in Iceland. Probably the best tomato soup I've ever had, which goes great with the grilled cheese. They also had enormous cookies and decent paninis. Great spot to chill out or to start your day before you go exploring.

The traditional lamb soup with free bread was excellent, and warmed us up nicely. Didn't have time for dessert, but it all looked delicious. The decor and atmosphere is welcoming and unassuming, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The toilets are ... erm ... unique! Highly recommended!!

Sheltered in Babalu after seeking somewhere to get out of the driving rain. We were about to leave as there were no tables downstairs, but a waiter informed us there was more seating upstairs. We were pleasantly surprised to find a lot of tables and sofas with mismatched chairs and cushions, all adding to the charm of the place. We... More

Th food is mediocre at best. Had the tomato soup and cheese combo. For the price you can get better elsewhere Quirky decor, eclectic, bric and brac type vibe. Coffee is overpriced and bitter. Yeah the toilet is Star Wars themed but so what? Overall I was disappointed after reading such good reviews of the place.

A nice place to stop for a coffee and slice of cake. The service is friendly, and the surroundings quirky: from the currencies of the world hanging from the walls to the Star Wars toilet. It was hard to tell if people were queuing for the toilet or to photograph the Han and Leia toilet sign. The coffee was good,... More

Babalou is warm and inviting with a sweet menu ( crepes, sandwiches, coffees, beautiful desserts) and vegetarian options. You place your order at the downstairs counter and it is brought to you on the main floor or upstairs. We enjoyed cappuccinos, grilled cheese( Gruyere type cheese in garlic bread) and shared an apple crisp. It was all very homey and... More

Cute cafe with vegan carrot cake (tasty but super sickly) and an amazing Star Wars themed toilet that even plays the soundtrack. Great spot to warm up on a wet day.

Have passed by this place so many times & finally went in to try! It's really cute, warm & cozy & the staff were friendly. Very interesting decorations on the walls. There were lots of people in here on their laptops & phones, I guess due to the free wifi. Had a great chai latte, nice & hot, not too... More

We went to Cafe Babalu on Sunday Morning. We had Coffee, Hot Chocolate and Crepes. It tasted delicious. The Atmosphere was so nice. So much things to see and explore inside the cafe. I will be back for sure. Tip: take a look at the toilet downstairs- a star wars experience awaits you.

Ate a Babalu twice - the first time upon arrival in a torrential downpour. The lamb stew, tomato soup, grilled cheese and tea were perfect for the two of us- all tasted good and were priced reasonably for Reykjavik. The second time was for lunch- this time we ate on the second floor and enjoyed the yummy chocolate cake. Staff... More
