Not long ago, Kaffi Hornið was the best eatery in Höfn. But then it became too popular for its own good. My latest foray failed to impress. The service was as good as before, the food less so. It had all the look and quality of something thrown together quickly.

I had food there with friends and family and I didn't like the Lobster that much it had a little I don't know faulty plus I don't know what kind of flavour but I do recommend that you go there and and have a club sandwich that is a really good sandwich but also the Lobster if they have the... We went here for dinner. It was quite early so there weren't many other people so service was quick. The waitresses were very friendly and happy to answer questions both about the food and the beers. I had the club sandwich which was huge! The bread slices were so thick that the sandwich looked like half a loaf. It was... More

Went there for lunch on a friend's recommendation. We had the fish & chips and the langoustine pasta. Portions were big and the langoustine pasta is really delicious! Cosy place to stop for a meal. Will be back if we have a chance.

We had the lobster soup, lamb chops, cod and fish of the day. Soup is tasty but the bread that comes along can do better. The fish were fresh and tender while the lamb chops are average. Portion size are smaller than what we expected though.

Located on the main road into Hofn this log cabin restaurant is really rather good. It has a wide range of items on the menu including the ubiquitous fish and chips and burger and chips. We had the former which was one of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. The fish was moist, beautifully cooked and evidently... More

Cozy log cabin restaurant with lovely service, tasty food, and a nice selection of craft beers. My friends and I started with the lobster toast and a melted cheese dish with honey and pine nuts that was very yummy. I had the reindeer burger which was nothing fancy, but very good while my friends shared salted cod, langostine pasta, and... More

I read some reviews before trekking out to this restaurant for a lobster meal and was definitely not disappointed! We were seated right away and the service was great. We both ordered the langoustine pasta and we're impressed with the portion size. A little pricier, but that's to be expected in Iceland. Would definitely recommend!

It was a night toward the end of my trip, and I still had not had a langoustine meal, so this was the night. I ordered their pasta. It was very tasty, but I was disappointed in the small amount of seafood in it, for the price I paid. The cafe was warm and welcoming, and the service was good.

Description
Kaffihornid - About us

Kaffi Hornid brings the best local ingredients to the table right on Hofn's main road sits Kaffi Hornid, where you can find seafood brought straight from sea to the table and a tempting selection of dishes from filling plates of lamb to salads topped with chicken or lobster. Soup is served daily with homemade bread and a salad bar is open for guests who want a small but filling lunch.

The menu is large, with sea food and local specialities like lamb and beef featuring prominently, although vegetarians are not left out as a dish of pan-fried chickpea cutlets remains one of the more popular dishes. This restaurant and cafe, with airy cathedral ceilings and ample seating for guests has been successful since opening in 1999, alternating as a restaurant, cafe and bar.

Kaffi Hornid's owners, husband and wife Ingolfur Einarsson and Kristin Oladottir, have made good use of Hofn's prized local food: the langoustine. Found just off Hofn' s coast and widely celebrated as a town delicacy, the lobster-like creature known as langoustine features prominently in Kaffi Hornid's menu with an entire section devoted to dishes showcasing the succulent shellfish in every price range.

The langoustine is distinguished from lobster because it is much smaller and its meat is said to be sweeter. While plentiful in Europe anwaters, langoustines, better known as scampi, are scarcely found in North America and whenever served at restaurants they have been shipped frozen because their delicate meat does not survive the journey. Fortunately for Hofn and Kaffi Hornid the langoustines are freshly caught each day for visitors to taste.

Fresh fish, also caught daily, lamb and beef from nearby farms and chicken dishes round out the menu. Pizzas are made to order with a special langoustine pizza for guests who want to try a twist on toppings. Icecream made at Arbaer, a dairy farm a few kilometres from Kaffi Hornid, tantalises visitors with homemade flavours like chocolate licoric.
