Went for a business dinner with a larger party. On the positive side- we were seated in a semi private room, service was professional and quick. The beef on the tap (a few choices - I went with Pils) was good. I am pretty familiar...with the German cuisine and IMHO the food was average, in fact the goulash soup was a bit of disappointment, pretzel was OK, deer was average or slightly above average (I am big fan of game dishes and my bar for their quality may be a high 😉), the best part was the strudel. Burgunder wine was good. One other thing - menu was only in Finnish and German (well I can navigate German), no English version - well we had enough German speaking people in the group, so impact was not that bad, but it was a suboptimal situation to say the least.More

Service was excellent! All four different dishes were good, home like food. Apfelstrudel also good. Redwine Döß also great. Thd place is cosy and staff polite people.

So, we went to restaurant Zinnkeller last Thursday evening with some expectations. We both ordered the "elk filet with pan fried chanterelles mushrooms & rosemary potatoes", with a bottle of Spätburgunder Barrique red. The quality of meat was top notch. Tender, moist, tasty, cooked red...to perfection. Absolutely fantastic. Sadly, the rest wasn't up to that level. Because the dish had been plated in a cold plate, the meat and sauce were served lukewarm (and cold after 5min.). The chanterelles were nowhere to be seen on the plates. Just a very few for my wife. As for me, just ONE tiny mushroom lost in a middle of a stir fried veggies mix (see pic below). That mix wasn't specified at all in the dish description, which by ricochet was misleading - shrinkflation? Anyway, after reclamation, we got a little bowl of mushrooms with a casual sorry. Asking for a carafe or a decanter for the wine, we were told that they had nothing. At the end of the meal, we asked for 5min. before ordering something else, the time for us to finish the wine. 15 min. later, being left on our own, we had to go to the counter to ask for coffee, digestives & bill. We didn't receive any commercial gesture, like the coffee on the house for the chanterelles incident, nor being asked if the dinner was satisfactory. Maybe it was one of those evenings where everything goes wrong. Or maybe, restaurant Zinkeller just relies on its name/past/reputation to operate. Judging by the rather good reviews below, we are tempted to say it that was down to bad luck. But we'll never know for sure as we won't go back. Sadly.More

Zinnkeller is a true institution within Kruununhaka. The lunch menu changes on a daily basis with plenty of gluten free and lactose free options. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about food restrictions. Good selection of German beers and lovely sunny terrasse during summer.

Went for lunch and a good one too. Ordered the metsa sandwich and the bratwurst as mains. Lunch also included a delicious tomato soup with 3 types of bread. Also included a nice salad buffet, which had olives, a tasty ham noodle salad, green salad...and some others. Coffee and dessert too! Good value for the money indeed! Ambiance was nice. Service was efficient and pleasant. Menu not in English so please do bear this in mind. Google translate helps! Definitely would recommend this gem.More

Visited the Zinnkeller restaurant today with a very large family group. The restaurant was booked well in advance and we took eight tables. We all ordered our food by tables and then waited. And waited, and waited and waited. My table was one of the...first served which took at least 45 minutes, but we had finished our food before other tables were even served. Later on dessert was offered and our table was forgotten completely so by that time we basically gave up and decided to get dessert somewhere else. As far as I could see only two members of staff was serving such a large group, a third appeared later but seemed only helping to clear the tables. Knowing that such a large group was expected, I would have thought they would have had more members of staff to serve us. As to the food, had Wiener schnitzel and roast potatoes which was ok, others had pork fillet, so no complaints about the food, but of course I can't comment on the dessert.More

We ordered hunters' bread, fried roasted hare and fasaanirintafile. They are all tasty that you can enjoy German dishes other than scadic in Helsinki:) Size of the portions is good enough to make us all full. Their disserts are also very tasty! Their English menu...has included only 3-4 pages with black and white A4 paper which is far less choices than the menu in Finnish. For this reason, I have to rate it 3 instead of 4 or 5...More

We had walked a distance and were really hungry when we came to this place. The lunch is served till 14:00 and it was 13:45, so a chance to eat was tiny, but the lady was nice and served us our meal! It was not...outstanding but it was good and in time.More

Had a nice evening in a birthday party of a friend of mine. We had a whole pig to share with 6 people. Pig had to be ordered two days before the visit. Pig was accompanied with all kind of sides like gabbage, mashed potatoes...etc. The sauce was also very good. Price of the pig was a little high but I can understand that because there is a lot to eat. Would recommend this place for a nice German dinner for every kind of parties.More

Good if youre into the 1983 decor and good beer, wine, herb liqouers and pretzels. Being a vegetarian there was nothing to eat except vegetable rösti which tasted like school cafeteria food but greasier and saltier. The omnivores said food was "edible". So food wise...a big no BUT it is Bavarian cuisine so barf inducing whole milk piglets on the menu are expected and do cater to those in the know, ofcourse.More
