We came here for dinner in February 2017 and went for the 4 course option with matching wines. The idea for the food is that the restaurant selects one animal, and makes all of the savoury courses using different cuts of the animal. For our meal, this was Wild Boar. All of the food was excellent, in particular the sausage... More

Had a dinner for a large party (20 people) in December. The service was phenomenal, and the food was outstanding. The menu was based on a single animal, but as a vegetarian i have to say that everything I had was amazing. The dishes were quite similar to the meat dishes, but of course, without the meat. The rest of... More

We loved this restaurant. We came for just a starter and a drink but ended up staying for a full three course meal enjoying some traditional Swedish Cuisine. The service we received was also fantastic incredibly patient with our lack of knowledge and we got some humour too!

I've been 3 times every time it's been fantastic. First rate service, cozy atmosphere, interesting theme. I would recommend reviewing the menu closely, some dishes might not be for everyone and you wouldn't want to spend $100 or more per person unless everyone is willing to try everything. You either get 4 or 6 courses with one main meat type... More

I really only have one thing to say, avoid this place! The service is so bad, the food is bad. They are much better places to eat.

I never eat better, than here. Nice restaurant. You can't eat a la carte. Every month they have an other menu. Whitin the menu they use everything of one animal. Every month a other animal. The menu contans 6 course and for every course a other wine.

Upon others' recommendations, I visited Bakficken on the north side of the Opera House. I opted for the very classic Swedish meatballs meal and it was superb - everything that I expected based on recommendations. The price was also reasonable and the location convenient, so don't miss it.

In a calmer part of the old town and the hotel restaurant you find Djuret, with a menu focusing on delivering as much as possible from the animal. Tonight it was Oxe and the five course meal were all tasty and combined with recommended wine - excellent! We liked the fact that we get some privacy since the old building... More

The restaurant has a really interesting concept. The food is really good and the service was nice. It can seem expensive but is worthy and reasonable after you get to enjoy the food and the service.

Dinner at Djuret was a pleasant experience, as we ate delicious food in a warm and sleek environment. However there were a few flaws, which explain the mediocre rating, to be interpreted in terms of value for quality. First, the menu is fixed (we could choose between a baseline 5 course menu and an extended 7 course menu). Second, not... More

Description
Djuret is Leijontornets bistro. At Djuret we serve one animal at the time. We concider this to be the most sustainable way to work with the slaughtered animal both from an organic perspective but also out of respect to the animal in question. The whole menu consists of different meat paragraphs from the same animal. These are prepared with a lot of love on the grill, halster or in a pot and then served in a rustik way.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
