Maybe we went on an off day or something, but my partner and I were thoroughly unimpressed with the quality of the buffet available here. We went for lunch on a Wednesday. Everything was either over- or under-seasoned, under- or over-cooked, or just plain unappetizing. We were very disappointed considering the positive reviews we had read from other people.

Dinner at around 7 on a Saturday night, we had good timing as the place was busy but there was a free table. The place is cramped so move slowly, and avoid the tables near the food. It is buffet style with three or four mains, salads, and soup. The food was very tasty and filling and good value. Make... More

It's absolutely a great news for vegetarians and vegans. Stop by and taste their food while your visit to Old Town of Stockholm. My humble advice: avoid peak hour during lunch and dinner, then only you can get a space easily for enjoying your meal.

I have been to Gamla Stan, old town of Stockholm, where we dinned Italian buffet food in Hermitage restaurant. Everything was delicious and exciting! The food, the atmosphere, the quality and the reception were all great! I am sorry for the mess we made because we were over 20 people, but the two ladies showed us a warm welcome! Thank... More

This is the place to go to have vegetarian lunch in Stockholm, at least in the Old Town. Lunch is a buffet with several options. Some of them are vegan. Outside of the lunch time it's a nice cafe.

I'm not a big meat eater and don't eat red meat at all, so this casual vegetarian restaurant in Stockholm was a great find. For a flat price, you get a simple buffet with bean, grain, and vegetable dishes, plus salad and bread. There were also potatoes and pizza. Thumbs up.

Vegetarian restaurant which serves wholesome food. This was our first meal in Stockholm. Buffet which consist of lasagne, bread, vegetable and dal accompained by salads and raita. A lovely outdoor seating.

Spotted a mention of this restaurant in the Lonely Planet guide and set off with a map of the old town to find it. Don't be put off by the rustic cafe interior - the welcome and food are great. There is no alcohol but a great selection of still and sparkling fruit presse and then there is the veggie... More

It was really nice, the place is comfy and adorable but really crowded! Also don't take a seat near the door or you'll freeze from the breeze! That said, the food (I choose the vegan "menu") was yummy and the prize point was fair :) a nice place fo stop by while you're visiting Gamla Stan!

As others have said not only is this good value by Stockholm standards at 120 SEK for the buffet lunch(drinks + dessert extra) but the food is delicious.I had a vegetable and seitan stew(though member of staff could only identify the seitan as 'soya' when I asked !). This came with rice/roasted herby potatoes, various salads, wonderful bread, burritos that were a bit... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
