OK, so when in Sweden, you need to try Swedish Meatballs - this is the place. Behind the Cathedral in Gamla Stan, it was a nice respite from the chilly weather. Service was good and the light beer was great. I'd not recommend the white wine here. So if you are in Gamla Stan take the walk up to the... More

We were in Stockholm for a layover flight. We came in here to eat and loved everything we ate and drank. Such a cute cozy place and the service was excellent.

After having a negative experience at a highly rated restaurant the night before we wanted our last night in Stockholm to be special. Kaffeggillet was just the place. Small and intimate reasonable price and excellent food. The staff were right on top of things and were very friendly. My wife had Salmon stir fry and I had the Swedish meatballs.... More

We stumbled upon this little gem after a day at The Royal Palace, the sign out the front stating warm wine, and cold beer enticed us in. It was warm and cosy and the drinks and food served quickly. Delicious meals and our waiter who welcomed us was excellent. Unfortunately there was a change of shift and the incoming waitress... More

Popped into this restaurant to get out of the bitter cold on Sunday, to warm up with a hot wine. Due to the welcoming atmosphere and friendliness of the waitress and the fact that the pies and custard we'd also decided to indulge in were lovely, we decided to return in the evening for our meal. We weren't disappointed. Reindeer... More

Good food, good service, corny music :) Don't let the many translations on the menu fool you, this is not a tourist trap. We very much enjoyed our time here. The only unfortunate part, were the rpigh chairs. Highly recommended!

This little gem right off the Cathedral was a port in the storm. On a snowy, bitter cold Stockholm day, at the setting of the sun, we were in need of food and warmth. The first thing that drew us was the lovely candlelight both outside and inside the restaurant. We had a delicious Swedish meal. Salad followed by goulash... More

While we were out on a sunny warm day with our good friends from Bastad we found this precious most amazing restaurant in Gamia Stan. The food is delicious and the fish was simply to die for. You must test this unforgettable dish.

Set in a lovely old building in the heart of Gamla Stan, we hungrily wandered in here after watching the changing of the guard. Fairly busy but there was a table upstairs in the corner and we were served quickly. The atmosphere was fantastic, lovely old bric a brac for decoration and plenty of history. Authentic food, had to have... More

The meatball is very soft and tender, warm service. And it's located in 14th century building. Worth a visit. The food are reasonably priced.

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
