My husband and I visited Portes a number of times on our last holiday to Chania, There are many good restaurants in Chania but Portes manages to be unique . A Greek friend recommended a visit as Portes is in the top 10 restaurant in Greece . The food is all truly scrumptious. The staff are friendly and on the... More

We didn't have a reservation so all the tables outside were taken. We were escorted to the rooftop. I feel that they could add a little ambiance to this rooftop with lights and flowers. The service was great and the food fabulous. We really enjoyed our evening.

Portes is at present situated in Portou St and you can sit outside in the garden filled lane, inside or on the roof terrace. Susanna wanders amongst the guests to chat and enquire on their meals. The food is amazing, we shared the wild snails in rosemary for starters such delicious flavours. Our mains of rabbit cooked in prunes and... More

I have been eating here for many years, inventive food with great service and good prices. I really love the meatballs, stuffed courgette flowers.

Always at the top of our list when it comes to eating out in Chania. We booked a table for our first night and our last night and we were not disappointed. The menu is so good it's hard to choose but I love the Fava with Caramelized Onions and the Chicken Kiev. So sad to hear that Susanna and... More

Wonderful restaurant with special food, spicy chicken's livers to die for. Nice ambience in a nicely lit side alleway, the Irish chef Suzanne is extremely talented. Restaurant is moving over winter but will still be called Portes (Doors) and worth tracking down next season (April 2017).

We ordered 5 cheese saganaki, tzatziki, tomato fritters, pita with tomato sauce and meat kabobs, and house red wine. The complementary dessert was one of the best we've had, however, no raki was given. Also, several items on the menu were not available. Probably wouldn't order the pita dish again, but the rest was good and we will be back.... More

We went here a few days ago for dinner and enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious and the menu seemed to cater to different eating preferences. I had a lovely vegetarian risotto and my partner had the moussaka which looked very healthy. The ambiance was lovely on the street and the service was great and the waiter helped... More

Went 3 nights. Tried 12 different dishes.. mostly starters. Best did we had in chania by a long shot. Stuffed spicy peppers, stuffed mushrooms, dip in the sea (for real fish lovers only! ) kefiti and fennel pie were some high points.

This is a small family owned restaurant which has operated in the Old Harbour of Hania since 2004.We have recently moved to our new premises on the water front on Nea Hora Beach with ample seating along the beautiful harbour there. As you approach the restaurant you can't help but notice our charming decor featuring old doors as the name "PORTES" means doors. The Irish owner/chef offers her customers a blend of trend and tradition with her unique recipes. All ingredients are fresh, seasonal, local and bought daily.Recipes are designed depending on the season and availability therefore be sure to checkout the blackboard displaying new dishes and daily specials."Portes" also offers a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. We open our doors each day and welcome our customers.
