Filling, good-tasting and inexpensive are three words strung together to jointly describe the food offerings of the Grand Dionysos Restaurant. I just saw this by chance and became immediately hooked after my first visit. Although souvlaki shops are a dime-a-dozen in Greece, this one is the cheapest of what I encountered but just as delicious , if not better than... More

The food here was good and very affordable. My family of picky eaters particularly enjoyed the roasted chicken. The service here was very good as well!

Gyros was good and for only €1,5 you can't expect a lot. But it was pretty good. BBQ lam was dry and burned.

Had a DELICIOUS gyro here. If you're in the Plaka area or around the acropolis, take a walk over to Grand Dionysos. Aside from the gyro being great, the staff was very kind as well.

The Man in this picture is the owner. He is a great guy and he will always worry about what he is offering you. Will confirm the prices with you least 2 times. Great service I say. I tried their pork kebabu and gyros. They were really good. My kids each finished a whole pork kebabu stick by themselves. They all want to go there again.

We were staying nearby and had lunch here twice during our stay. Great gyros, super tasty, friendly staff, and really cheap for 2 people. Owner is very kind and helpful!!!! You can sit outside or inside...!they also serve ice cream and coffee. Would definitely recommend to anyone in need of a quick bite!

When in Athens you are sure to want to climb the Acropolis hill to view the ruins. Who wouldn't? You are going to feel guilty about how that rascal Elgin stole their marbles with the connivance of an Ottoman official, and you may want to look the other way about the admiration of Lord Byron, when everybody knows he was... Great customer service and the pork gyro was so good! Only costs 1.50 Euro too. They also have gelato, but I didn't try it. Very short walking distance from Omonio Square and the Melia Athens Hotel.

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
