Best place romantic to drink your coffee in the morning at feet of Acropolis. Anafiotika is called otherwise the whole steps place with taverns, cafes and bars just under Acropolis.

This is the best it can get in terms of location. Sitting outside on the stairs of Plaka, sipping your coffee among many locals (yes, that is right) is Athens at its best. Difficult to catch a personnel as they are busy and just a few but it is reasonable in the end. Plaka prices.

Very nice area to walk around. We had a coffee and nice sweets and pastas. Try home made lemonade and sweets that are made on site! Be patient with the service as usually it is very busy.

I have never met in my life personnel more rude than Yiasemi's. The service was really slow and very ironic. Strongly NOT recommended.

Good drinks. Unfortunately we didn't try food - but it looked very good. The seats on the steps outside - are especially romantic in the night with all the lights.

This place is one of favorites. I love it and i have been there many times. It exudes a highly Greek atmosphere. The steps in the narrow alley, the smell of the flowers and the sunshine compose an imaginery scenery. Prefer it in daytime. One drawback is that the service sometimes is not good.

Great little Greek place. We seemed to be the only foreigners there. We went for dinner and ended up getting spanakopita, a cheese pie and baklava. It's more of a small cafe/bistro, but we were very happy with or meal and very full! Lovely atmosphere in a very enjoyable part of the city that we may not have seen otherwise.... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
