Ordered fish skewers...shrimp abd swordfish..sounded delicious on the menu. What arrived tasted like chalk...aweful.. and very expensive. . True the ambience is nice in this very large restaurant but suggest you avoid this tourist trap.

Saw this restaurant as we were walking to the Acropolis, and just die to the beautiful setting, we had to try it. Straight away the service was excellent, Anna's then the food came! The olives, bread and dip were great, but the lamb in ceramic pot was just awesome. Sure, it's not the cheapest place to eat, but for the... More

Full disclosure: I did not eat here. Firstly, it was nearly impossible to find anyone to seat me. Then, when I sat down to look at the menu, the prices were 25% higher than the prices on both 'display' menus intended to lure in patrons. To be blunt, I wouldn't trust this place. There are far better tavernas a bit... More

Perfectly located place ! The food was typical Greek and overall good ! The service was really slow and unusually distant for what I've seen in Greece . So, only go there if you are a patient customer ..

Waiters not as friendly or informative. We randomly picked this place for lunch. Overprice and mediocre. Not value for money. Saying that, the lamb cooked in claypot is probably worth trying. Lamb kebab was good but small in portion for the price. Otherwise I'd give this place a skip. 6/10

A classic taverna with outdoor tables in a scenic square, with the exact same menu as every other taverna in Athens (all the classics). But the food was clearly a cut above the other tavernas we tried.

One thing that I trully enjoyed about Athens that (most of the time) locals also hang out at the touristy spots and those are the ones that you know that will not be a tourist trap. That is how I felt about this place. We were only there for drinks and it was a pleasant one.

Great location, seating takes up one whole side of square with the Choragic monument Lysicrates in it. Food was good bistro level, authentic greek. Nothing outstanding, but tasty, good portions and good value for money. Perfect for families or meals with friends.

Visited this cafe for drinks on three occasions during our stay once for morning coffee and twice for beers. Considering this cafe is situated in the heart of the busy Plaka district. We found it to be relaxing and peaceful but also a great place to people watch. The service was attentive and friendly. Worth a visit!

We were in Athens 5 nights and ate in this restaurant 3 times, it was so good. From being greeted professionally at the entrance, with Waiters knowledgeable about the menu right through to the quality of the food this is a great place to visit if you are in Athens. It is set back off the main bustle but somehow... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
