Popped in for lunch as in the neighbourhood, not many dining in, but a constant stream of locals getting takeaways. Traditional Greek cooking, have a look what you want. Owner is friendly and speaks perfect English.

I give Meta's 5 stars not that it is anything special but for good food at great prices this was a nice surprise. Like most of Southern Europe the Greeks tend to eat a main meal during the evening especially on hot summer days so finding somewhere off the city centre for a full lunch can be tricky during the... Found this place by chance while looking for somewhere to eat lunch. The food was all freshly cooked and delicious, with plenty of choice for vegetarians. While we were eating, there was a steady stream of locals popping in for takeaway, so it's clearly popular. The owner (who speaks perfect English) was so friendly and helpful, and our meal was... This place is seriously awesome. I am from the United States and am visiting for school and was lucky enough to find this amazing restaurant. Prices are great, the people are great and the food is even better! If you are nearby you should defiantly stop by!

Cozy restaurant with excellent freshly cooked food and reasonable prices. My wife and I get takeaway every now and then and it never let's us down. Recommended!

My friends and I came here for lunch, and had a great experience. This is definitely a small, family-owned place. The owner greeted us kindly and welcomed us in, and gave us a tour of what he was offering on that particular day. We started with chicken soup, which was delicious. We then split 3 different traditional Greek entrees between... More

Located very close to our hostel and had great traditional food. The lasagne was exceptionally good. We also tried the halvas which was on the house. Generally nice place with relatively acceptable prices.

I recently visited Athens and ate at Menta's. The food was excellent ( we had the fish ) and the service was good. I was surprised when the bill came. It was less than I thought so I would recommend this restaurant for giving good value for money. It was a little way out from the center but well worth... More

This quiet and easily accessible restaurant should not be missed by both visitors and Athens residents. Clean, friendly atmosphere and a touch of genuine Greek hospitality! If you truly want to experience what native Greeks eat at home, this is the place to go...as if you were eating grandma's dishes!!!

Staying in Pangrati

Neighbourhood Profile
The elongated Panathenaic Stadium, built for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, acts as grand gateway to the otherwise purely Athenian neighborhood of Pangrati. This area of typical small squares, busy main roads and residential streets will give you a clear sense of what living in this metropolis is like. A walk up quiet Markou Mousourou Street on the west side of the stadium will bring you past the First National Cemetery to Mets, home to many expats. Turn right to reach the charming Platia Varnava. East of the stadium, commercial Eratosthenous Street leads to rather nondescript Platia Plastira, from where Effranoros Street continues uphill to Platia Profiti Ilia, crowned by a huge church. Among the standard four- to six-story apartment blocks that typify Athens, Pangrati also boasts some genuinely authentic tavernas and the odd trendy bar.
