Let me start by saying that I grew up in Athens (left Greece already back in 1991 though) and am 46 years old; thus I do remember the days when tyropita (cheese pie) was filled with real cheese, and not with this plastic-like stuff! Ariston...More

During our spring visit to Athens, we decided to find this restaurant. We were not disappointed, food is great, too bad it was on our last day.

Our Athens tour guide, Nina, brought us here for breakfast. Homemade pies were delicious! We had spinach, cheese, and mushroom pies. We stopped in early, around 8 am. Really nice for takeout - we ate them as we continued our city tour.

We had a large lunch so we just wanted something light for dinner. The variety of their pies is incredible. They have lots of meat, cheese and vegetarian choices. They are all freshly made and reasonably priced.

A Greek friend of mine suggested this place for a cheese pie --- which I can also called "peynirli pogaca". I am from Turkey and I know my cheese pie and this one is one of the best that I have tried. Purchase your cheese...More

Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is
Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament
building on its upper side and surrounded by other
large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande
Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia
are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like
the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia
Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents,

It's open around 8:00 am. If you're looking for something earlier in the same area, there is a place called Everest close by.
