Small family owned business, very good for a lunch stop. Simple menu, local "feeling" (we were the only non locals there). The English-speaking owner was very friendly and pretty much translated the lunch menu for us. The home-made dessert looked delicious, but unfortunately we didn't have time to try them.

Best vegan meal in Madeira so far ❤. Happy to make adjustments to suit. Very friendly and informed owners. Definitely going back before we leave 😀.

We were on our way to a fado music evening and we stumbled into "Mania da Cozinha"... just away from the buzzling centre of Funchal. A nice familiar atmosphere and the menu were the captivating things. The owner welcomed us like old clients and with after a chat we order our dinner. We got impressed by quality / taste /... More

Friendly, helpful service. English spoken. Food was simple but very tasty and good value. They have cakes to die for.

Mania de Cozinha translates loosely as Kitchen Obsession - a very friendly locale with excellent wholesome food located in the heart of downtown Funchal, very close to the University of Madeira campus. We visited and feted on assorted vegetables, couscous and bacalhau (cod), all drowned by exquisite Alentejo red wine from the Portuguese mainland. Our hostess is a delectable lady... More

We were lucky enough to see the reopening celebration of this charming cafe advertised after it was damaged in the fires of August 2016. It is completely renovated in an understated grey palette and is casual and comfortable. We were the only non-local diners, and the proprietor and staff bent over backwards to make us feel comfortable and explain everything... More

We wanted to find this place again when we were in the town as we had such a lovely lunch last time (2 years ago). We weren't disappointed! The staff and the owner are so helpful and friendly & the clientele is primarily local - ladies who lunch, schoolchildren & families with children. The décor has been upgraded since our... More

Not an enormus veggie menu, but interested and well-priced, and with a great welcome from La patronne! Doesn't open until very late althoughthe owner was happy to accomoodate late nights meal if given notice.

Accidental find but wonderful, friendly staff, excellent quality & quantity of food and a great price. Hubby had dish of the day - a local scabbard fish in onion & tomato sauce with cornmeal which was delicious & I had a tuna salad which barely fitted on the plate, loaded with beetroot, red leaves, tomatoes, lettuce, corn, carrot & lots...
