We used our local Pingo Doce several times in Monumental as it was on our door-step, good range of essentials in the shop and discovered the in-store restuarant/cafe by accident. Glad we did, it offered a good selection of hot/cold buffet style food and wine/beer to accompany from what was on sale in the shop (at the same price) -... More

You might if like us you were b&b and on a tight budget, but still wanted good food. Our hotel was in Estrada Monumental, the hotel district of Funchal. At home we occasionally eat in a supermarket cafe so tried it here. So glad we did. Take a plate and load up with whatever you want from a good selection... More

We tried this restaurant after several recommendations. We went at 7 pm and there was not much left and it was luke warm food. Not very appetising but certainly very inexpensive. We have one of these outlets by our apartment in San Martin so will try there.

Great prices for food/drink and the locals use this supermarket. I also used it for the hot food selection and filled rolls which you can sit in with or takeaway. Great choices and they charge you by the weight of the food - it was really cheap for a hot meal.

Sure you can eat here, but If your preference is to shop where the locals do, then this place is perfect for the ‘do it yourself’ types. The indoor Pingo Doce shopping area has a plethora of offerings from fresh fruit and veggies to beer, water and meat as well as baked items – all for a fraction of what... More

Nothing wrong with a supermarket tea, even when you're on your holidays. you'd do it at home so why not do it here. Freshly cooked and a wide range of hot and cold dishes to take away or eat in. The food has a home cooked feel about it too so you won't be disappointed.

oh boy, I was never so grateful for needing to pee so bad I had to go into a shopping centre when on holiday (a big no-no on my holiday book). It was by chance that it was also lunch time. We went into the supermarket to grab a few snacks when I saw the food by kilo - 10.59/kilo... More

Our accommodation in Funchal would be much more expensive without Pingo Doce. You can buy very cheap traditional portugal dishes and enjoy on your balcony with sea view.
