"Old kitchen" it really is, but not in a good way. The food isn't terrible, but massively over-priced. Because of the fabulous setting, they seem to think the food justifies 22 euros a plate for what, in my case, was frozen oven chips, lamb cutlets and a burnt tomato garnish. The soup had the help of Mr Knorr, and to... More

We had dinner here with our Collette tour group. The restaurant is in what used to be the palace kitchen. The huge kitchen fireplace and covering chimney are still on display in the middle of the room and we winced every time the wait staff passed by because the chimney covering comes down very low. However, they expertly navigated the... More

After spending the afternoon at Queluz Palace we walked a few meters from the entrance to an adjoining courtyard to the restaurant. It was rather quiet, but the service was wonderful with our table having window overlooking the palace garden. The food was amazing! We ordered fish and steak fillet - both literally melted in our mouths. It was quite... More

Dined here some 40+ years ago while camping in Lisbon and came back for old time's sake. I guess you can't go home. We arrived about 7:00 on a Saturday evening and the place was empty. We were still jet lagged and we didn't want to wait. Dining room is as beautiful as we remembered, spacious and quiet. Service was... More

Impeccable service that was quietly unobtrusive but attentive and anticipated our needs. We had lunch in what used to be the kitchen area of the palace. Our group chose a Set meal that included unlimited access to buffet dessert laid out on a very large stone table. The desserts were impressive. Food was delicious. Everyone was pleased with their meal.

We travel alot and we love good food. We know Portuguese food well because of my husband's roots. We can honestly say this was the best meal we've ever had! The food and bread were spectacular, the wine, the coffee and the dessert buffet was incredible! Followed by a glass of port on the house! We just wish we had... More

I must say having our lunch in this historic place was an experience. The food was great and tasty, the staff were very helpful though initially we had some problems understanding & going through the menu.

We had read good things in one of our guide books (probably Lonely Planet), and the book was right. The atmosphere was great, and the food was so good. It was the perfect end to our visit to Queluz Palace. We had to ask twice because we were directed to the small snack area inside the palace, but we knew... More

This was our final meal in a tour of Portugal and it was very good. We had bread, and olives plus a salad for starters, then I had the cod which was mixed with rice and was great. For dessert, we had dessert buffet. Ooh, it was so tasty. I liked the ambiance also.

Cozinha Velha is located within the Queluz castle, specifically the old kitchen of the castle. Some elements of the kitchen are still there to watch, especially the very impressive fireplace. Overall Cozinha Velha is decorated a bit like a museum with corresponding paintings and other objects. We were at Cozinha Velha for lunch on a Friday and where the only... More
