So the famous cakes of Belem are definitely famous for a reason. For just about 1,30 you will a delicious, fresh, creamy and crunchy treat. Perfect with a coffee and be sure to bring a napkin. Cheers

While tourist-oriented, you won't find a better pastel de nata in Lisbon, Crowded, noisy, but good, friendly service. A rabbit-warren of rooms, including an outside patio, for use when the weather is right. Don't wait outside in lines, go inside, sit down, have a bica and a pastel de nata (and maybe a gingina...).

After visit Monastery Belem, if you wanna try famous Porteguese pastry called Nata this is the place taste for. This is the birth place of Nata , there are better patisseries Lisbon cith center which makes better Nata than original location.

We visited with family in June 2016 after a free walking tour in the area. Our tour guide mentioned not to be put off by the crowds waiting for take-aways - go in and have a seat inside. There is seating inside for about 400 people which was great. We had a beer with the lunch What's not to love?

Hands down the best pastel de nata in Lisbon, probably in Portugal. Absolutely love them. Busy as always, but a very short line and quick to get our tarts. Been before when it is quite a long line but they keep up with quick service. Have an will go back!

Must see although a bit touristy. Expect to queue for around 5 mins. There is definitely a factory feel to it because of the queues but what counts is how good the tarts are. Don't forget to sprinkle cinnamon!

Pasteis de Belem is a must for every tourist. Rightfully so. A huge place with moderate prices. Don't be creative and go for the original pasteis. Those are simply divine.

This place serves the best pastries in town. It's also conveniently located in the Belem area where many museums and the tower of Belem are located. Everyone visiting lisbon should eat here. A 10/10

This is a mandatory place to visit, to bring a good coffee and eat the typical Portuguese cakes of "nata" (sweet cream, eggs and cinnamon).

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belem
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
