Ordered chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka. Both were excellent. The staff was prompt and friendly and very courteous.

I lived in india for almost 3 years, so maybe I was having high expectations, but I expected it to be like in India. I had the chicken biriyani. The taste was alright, but it didn't come with curry and I had to pay extra for raita which I thought, at least a small portion, would come with the biriyani... More

Walking through the streets of the Barrio Alto in Lisbon we decided to give a chance to this nice Indian Restaurant. The personal was superkind. The plates even if aren't big enough were tasty and delicious. The owner was so kind to offer us the Sangria we ordered! Kindness and tastefull plates.Recommended to all!

One of my most disappointing experiences at an Indian restaurant in Europe ! I'm originally Indian, well-travelled and have been to some of the finest Indian restaurants in the world. This is shameful to say the least- how can they advertise this as Indian food ?? I ordered a chicken tikka masala with roti and rice -totally bland and tasteless.... More

This is not authentic Indian, but it is tasty and high quality. The food is actually English curryhouse cuisine, rather than classic Indian, which is fine. The rogan gosht was excellent, if a little light on the meat, the chicken biriyani was also good and the peshwari naan was nice. All in all a good meal, but definitely on the... More

We found this restaurant in a local guide. We did really fancy an original Indian cuisine. Overall a good place although I found the staff a bit grumpy and not very chatty. I was under the impression that they found annoying if you ask any questions about the dishes. The starters where really small, main courses where tasty but we... More

The food is very tasty and you have a lot to choose. I advice the naan and the chicken tikka masala and the mango lassi. The restaurant is very chill and typical.

We went there for dinner as a family. The food and service were both great. We took three chicken dishes two of them were really great the vindaloo which was the best, spicy and tasty, the chicken curry was very good too. The chicken tikka masala was good but not as much as the vindaloo which was out of this world.... More

Enjoyed the food but didn't like how I was treated by my server. Offputting. You can go to Intendente and find a hundred restaurants, just as good and half the price.

The Calcuta
.....started its journey of serving the Indian cuisine in 1998. Situated in one of the traditional and historical streets in the heart of Lisbon. The Calcuta is a real contribute to the preservation of authentic North Indian as well Goan gastronomy. (Goa: Old capital of the Portuguese empire in the east).

Situated in Bairro Alto, a big attraction to all who wants to be distracted, and a very animated place with local life, it is the center of most of Lisbon's agitated nocturne life with typical restaurants, International cuisines, bars, fados houses, bookshops, theaters, some of the most creative ateliers, fashion and design stores. With belvederes, turned to the beautiful landscapes of Lisbon city, Bairro Alto takes part today of the historic and typical areas (with perpendicular and straight streets and flower adorned windows) much loved by the Lisbon people.
