Excellent food, excellent and friendly staff. Nicely done interior. Had a great conversation with the bartender as I tried to use a few Portuguese phrases. Aside from the great meal, the personal touches made this a great choice.

This restaurant is conveniently located on the square opposite the old convent and Archaeological Museum and National Guard headquarters. We enjoyed an inside table that looked out onto the square. The service was excellent and there was a lovely ambience. One of us enjoyed prawn...risotto while the other enjoyed a high- quality hamburger. Highly recommended.More
Found by accident as were looking for the Convento do Carmo. Located in a beautiful square but quite busy. Menu looked excellent and did not disappoint. We had a shared starter of meat and cheeses then tagliatelli and gnocchi for main course. The waiting staff...need to be on their toes avioding the cars and tuk tuks crossing the road to get food and drinks.More
service was very unfriendly. An employee on the terrace in front of the door was annoyed when we asked for the bill and didn't say anything at the checkout and was angry and annoyed all the time when we decided not to have lunch but...just a drink. unfriendly guy we will never come here again.More
Sophisticated and comfortabke Delicious “catch of the day” paired with the perfect gin martini Ask for Charlie - the perfect host
The cod cakes, veal croquettes, and tempura were highlights but everything was delicious. Don’t skip on the egg pie with lemon for dessert even if you’re full. It’s amazing. Mariana is an amazing server. David is an amazing server. Both took excellent care of us....We came across this place on the Rick Steve’s walking tour. You do not want to bypass this restaurant. Staff and food are incredible.More
This restaurant is a little fussy for what it is--a casual Portuguese place for lunch. The wait staff were helpful with recommendations for my teenagers, and they were fairly efficient. The food itself was better than expected--the shredded codfish dish was very good; my kids...enjoyed the steak and pasta dishes. If you are in the area, it is a great place to stop for a longer lunch.More
If you’re in the Chiado area of Lisbon looking for a lunch I highly recommend Carmo Restaurante. We eat twice both times outside. The location enjoys the atmosphere of the square without being overly busy or too touristy. But by far the main reason for...this recommendation is the quality of the food. For a high quality lunch without any pretence, at a fair price, you must try Carmo.More
Nice restaurant serving a wide variety of options. Staff friendly and engaging would recommend if you’re looking for something to eat at a reasonable price.
I arrived at 7pm. Even though winter, the man tried to persuade me to sit outside because the place was fully booked. I said that I would look elsewhere. He got cross and took me in and showed me to a table. When I left...at 8:30pm there were only two other tables taken! An error of judgement? Food was not brilliant. The risotto rice was very poor, and the herbs were from a jar not fresh. The seafood on it was overcooked and not fresh. Overall poor value for money, especially as there was a weird smell in the restaurant throughout the meal. The music playing was too loud.More
burger and chips were cold / undercooked. fair enough, perhaps order something more authentic. but food and wine were all poor. mentioned this twice to waiter, but nothing was done apart from offering a free desert. should take it off bill.
We were one of the first people in (hungry early!) and had a wonderful seat looking out the window onto the cute little square out front. Unfortunately...that was the best part. The service was slow even though there were only 2 other tables with us....Our waiter seemed very young and although he seemed comfortable with speaking English with us, he didn't know much about the menu. The drinks we asked for were declined because they didn't have a bartender. The food itself was average and we thought not a good value. Nothing here really stood out besides the location and the beauty of the restaurant.More
Ran in here as it was lashing rain. There were four of us. A resounding score of average to below average food. We were hunted out of the place at 11 pm, even though they state they are open until 12. The water was pleasant...and attentive, but I'm really struggling to just find anything positive about our experience.More
Recommend 100%. Food is great! The view is nice and the hospitality of the stuff and the manager is TOP. They went an extra mile to accommodate all of our requests, and made our stay very special. Once in Lisbon I will definitely look forward...to have a meal there again. Well done!! P.S. that octopus is amazingggggMore
Visited this lovely restaurant during my stay in Lisbon. It is located in a cute area and it had a very pleasant atmosphere. Service was super nice and friendly and the food was really delicious. Will be back for sure :)
