We booked this resto through the fork app, and we liked the food so much! We got discount on the main course and the staff were very very nice. Wonderful experience!

Wandering around looking for lunch off the main tourist route. Quick check on TripAdvisor then in. What a pleasant surprise. Good quick service. Well cooked, plain and simple fish dishes for the 2 of us. Drinks, olives and bread. All for €23. You can't go wrong. I paid more than that the day before for 2 very ordinary pizzas in... More

Luckily we found this small unpretentious restaurant in around the corner from our hotel. The food on offer was Portuguese with an oriental twist. We went back several times and had a great experience each time

We were touring the historic district on a busy Sunday. At one of the corners, a guy handed me a leaflet showing a lunch special for 6.50 Euro. How good could that possibly be?, I thought, putting it Into my pocket. But after checking out the pricey menus of several touristy spots, we decided to give it a try, and... More

Although it is found rather on a side street of Rossio (or maybe because?), this discreet looking restaurant serves amongst the tastiest pastas I've ever tasted. Highly recommended!

We went here by accident, but were surprised of the nice stuff and the quality compared to the rather low prices. The plastic tablecloth, the empty walls and the dancehall music were not so fitting, but all in all a very nice place :)

On a side street in Baxia you will find this low key place that offers delicious sea food in ridiculously low prices. We took the king prawns as starter and the cod fish as the main menu. It was tasty and taste-full, with all the seasoning a person could want that hit all the right spots. By reserving with TripAdvisor... More

We were searching restaurant and someone from this restaurant stopped us like all the restaurants in the tourist area often do. This restaurant is run by Nepales, very good service, always with big smile. We went twice within 2 days. Second time was around 17:00, too early for dinner, but the owner still welcomed us. My parents loved the wet... More

Very good food, we tried the dourada, a pasta dish and cataplana de tamboril and they were all good. The creme brulee had a lot of water in it so I'd give it a skip and try another dessert. The staff is very friendly and caring but didn't seem to speak much Portuguese (!?), if you're a tourist you're fine... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
