Came here on a whim, staying nearby, walked past, liked the look of the open kitchen & fresh produce in the fridge in the window. Had spatchcock chicken, done on the griddle. Lovely simple food, tasty and well worth the visit. Wasn't busy, but certainly deserves to be! Great little restaurant.

we reserved in advance, food was great, had Tuna steak, grilled. Staff was friendly, menue card is in english, so no problem ordering. The house wine, red, was excellent and remarkably cheap.

Similar to the other standard Lisbon grills. Decent meats (steak and pork with prawns) and as always, chips and rice. The immediately delivered nibbles were better than some. Fine smoked lomo made a change from the usual spreads. Nice small selection of well priced wines. Enjoyable.

I went in on my own on a Saturday night and the place was pretty empty. I had bacalao a o forno, which was delicious albeit full of bones. The waiter didn't speak much English but he was very helpful and friendly. Prices are more than reasonable. Plus, it's two minutes from the Sé and the Alfama, so it has... More

Went here with the wife on way down from the castle. Popped in and thought we'd give it a try. Very busy and service was a but slow. However food was fantastic, my wife had a chorizo only on locals menu and I had the rabbit both great flavour. The gave us some appetizers also very nice not on the... More

No reservation needed. We had the sea bass, sardines and the shrimp in garlic oil. The food was well seasoned and cleaned (fish) well. The service was excellent and fast!

Popped in here on spec after too much walking on the basis it was pretty crowded with an obviously local lunchtime crowd. It looks basic enough but in fact the food was excellent, I had a grilled swordfish, The basic look because its catering for a busy much time office crowd rather than the tourist crowd so has a slight... I'd been craving grilled fish during our time in Lisbon and we had walked past this place a few times. We decided to head in for dinner one night and it was good! We shared the mixed grill fish for 2 and a salad. Tasty!

A bit off the beaten tourist track and the cafes that line Rua Augusta, I highly recommend this place. The chef and sous chef are husband and wife team. The chef speaks French and while his English is not as good, they have menus in various languages..so don't be put off by not speaking the lingo. The fish is in... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
