Located in a beatuful area of Lisbon with a very astonishing view of Tejo and rooftops but service and even the quality of food is far far from the level of view... food is tasteless and expensive not at all a value for money (in the terrace). Choose another restaurant with terrace, there are so many...

Set in the older part of Lisbon, the views from its veranda across the river and surrounding area are fantastic. Unfortunately the food is not of the same standard, catering for around 30 of us the food was rushed, and service lacking, the fish cake was full of bones and the sweet still partially frozen. Thankfully the views were great!

Beautiful view from the terrace, actually connected to a nice lookout in the way up to Sao Jorge castle from Baixa Chiado. View more limited from the inside. Food mostly unremarkable. Slow service.

I really fail to understand how a place could have so little respect for their patrons to give them instant coffee from freeze dried coffee powder!!!! Astonished!!!!! Fine dining?????

We enjoyed a superb meal here and could not fault the food or attention to detail. The service was a little swift for our liking but we ate early in the evening and were very well cared for during the evening. We enjoyed bread and olives, chefs offer of tasting dishes, starters, main course and drinks for £70. We could... More

We were actually doing a walking tour of this part of the city, and just came in here for a break, and a look at the spectacular view! Certainly worth the price of the bottle of mineral water we paid for, thank you for the view Zambezi!

We only strayed there one afternoon for something hot to drink to warm up. The main restaurant was closed with only the terrace and the bar open. Maybe it opens later. Never mind the drinks we had: some coffee and local cherry liqueur(Ginja). What makes it outstanding is the view of the sun setting over the roofs of Lisbon. Many... More

Ate here in July 2016 with a large company gathering. It's quite a climb up to get to this restaurant, and should you get lost on the way use a satnav/gps app on your phone because if you ask locals if they know where Zambeze is... they may answer "no". That's the thing about this restaurant: locals don't seem to... More

Next to the elevator that goes down to port level. It's an odd, three zoned restaurant with and inside eating area, (slightly fancy) a closed in porch area and then an outside area. The food is decent and the view is wonderful. Good place for lunch on a sunny day.

Thank Thomas S

Located in the historic center of Lisbon, between Largo do Castelo de Caldas and S. Jorge, the Zambezi Restaurant offers a superb view of the downtown Lisbon and the Tagus river. The Zambeze Restaurant retrieves the best gastronomic tradition of Portugal´s Beira region, recreated in its presentation and the amazing fusion of African flavors. The decor boasts many iconic elements of Portuguese culture, including earthenware pieces of Bordallo Pinheiro on the inside and outside, two tile panels designed by the artist Paul Ossião, with meals served in dishes Vista Alegre. The offer is complemented by a terrace of 300 m2. The ideal choice for late afternoon, valuing the splendid framework, a record cosmopolitan, modern and relaxed. Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
