My husband and I were looking for a place to have lunch when we saw Vela Latina! It was an agreeable surprise! I had a melon soup that I was simply delicious! The main dish was a codfish with corn "migas"that I loved too! The dessert was very special too:a sorbet of vodka and lemon! We were glad we found... More

After hard work sightseeing sometimes you can't wait to find somewhere nice for lunch. This cafeteria is in the park right beside the Belem Tower. I had a medium mixed salad plate with 3 types of salad (no meat) some fresh squeezed orange juice and a nata tart. Cost was €10 and they still wanted people to pay 50 cents... More

Food is just ok. Price for one salad and one lasagna slice was €16, in my opinion too high for a self service and food with ok quality. Location is the only good thing, but if you are coming only to get a meal, there are much better options in the surroundings were you will get quality and enough quantity... More

I had been to the Belem tower and fancied a cuppa. On the way back to my hotel I save this lively restaurant and they kindly served me a cop of verbena tea with a tiny Madeleine . If this cake is anything to go by this is an excellent restaurant! I'll come back for dinner!

Stopped against my better judgement after leaving Torre de Belem, but my husband was starving. Met the need but cafeteria line was slow and food quality was lacking for price. Price was reasonable for tourist area and was clean. Two adults ate lunch for 24 euro.

I had a noonday snack and spent more time in line than eating. There was an additional line to the restroom. Patrons got a single-use voucher with purchase, others paid half a euro. I suppose, due to the location near the monument, the facility would be overwhelmed if the restroom were free. I saw no waiters. The café appeared clean... More

This self-service cafe is located between the Discoverers monument (Pardrao dos Descobrmentos) and the Tower (Torre de Belem). Quite pleasant. You can eat inside or outside. Purchase of food also provides password for their free WiFi and free entrance to the restrooms in the basement.

Had lunch in the waiter service section. The food was excellent - fish/shrimp soup and grilled cod. Service was excellent too. Oh, the white wine selection was great. Hope to come back soon.

Went to this restaurant several times ,but the last one was during restaurant week. Although the choices are restricted at this time i had a very enjoyable meal. The pumpkin soup with shrimp was delicious and so was the grouper on a cod risotto. The dessert was a deception ! The ambience was quite nice . Service was quite good. I... More

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belem
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
