Nice clean cafeteria with good food. Line moved quickly and there were plenty of tables. We shared a soup and a salad; both were tasty.

This restaurant was recommended to us as very good sea food restaurant in Belem by our Lisbon hotel staff . We found this restaurant by accident while walking from Belem Tower looking for late lunch place and we enjoyed every minute there. From the moment we entered - we were greeted very warm, host greeted us very friendly and respectfully... More

Vela Latina is located in a very nice surronding near the Torre de Belem (although it has no view on it or the Tagus River). The food and the service is good but clearly they charge for the location. It is mainly a business restaurant, and the for for what yu get you can eat cheaply elsewhere.

I loved the fish, veal carpaccio and a Grand Mainier gelato that was amazing! Great recommendation on a non expensive Vinho Verde. I think some reviews are from the cafeteria that is right by the side of the restaurant.

Lovely location though! Still it is super busy and had some cold drinks and a snack for the family. Nothing exceptional here

My husband and I were looking for a place to have lunch when we saw Vela Latina! It was an agreeable surprise! I had a melon soup that I was simply delicious! The main dish was a codfish with corn "migas"that I loved too! The dessert was very special too:a sorbet of vodka and lemon! We were glad we found... More

After hard work sightseeing sometimes you can't wait to find somewhere nice for lunch. This cafeteria is in the park right beside the Belem Tower. I had a medium mixed salad plate with 3 types of salad (no meat) some fresh squeezed orange juice and a nata tart. Cost was €10 and they still wanted people to pay 50 cents... More

Food is just ok. Price for one salad and one lasagna slice was €16, in my opinion too high for a self service and food with ok quality. Location is the only good thing, but if you are coming only to get a meal, there are much better options in the surroundings were you will get quality and enough quantity... More

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
