We saw this place whilst trying to find somewhere to eat on our first night, it was fully booked though so we booked for later in the week, as the guy we spoke to was very helpful and friendly. Well worth the wait. The staff were really friendly. The food was amazing, we went off of the owners recommendations and... More

This place is simple, traditional and a real Lisbon gem. Great service from the friendly owner was accompanied by excellent wine and wonderful food. The veal truly was superb. Many restaurants around here are called "tourist traps" but this is anything but. Nothing was pressured and we even had to ask if there was any dessert available (there was, and... More

Restaurant is small with few tables - we therefore recommend you reserve a table before coming or show up very early (as we did). Interior is cosy, calm and not cramped. Service is sober but friendly (which is what we prefer), efficient, and food served is fresh and nicely cooked (family style, which is also what we prefer). We definitely... More

The restaurant was full when we arrived at the very end of lunch time, but the owner/manager? kindly asked a patron if she would mind separating the table she was at to accommodate us and shortly after we were seated, guided us to a newly emptied table in a better location. How nice is that. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle... More

We had a fantastic experience in O Arco, I strongly recommend all the variety of Cataplanas dishes. A must be if you travel to Lisbon!

we ate here the last night we stayed in Lisbon. Came here at 7PM when it opened. We ordered grilled sea bass and seafood cataplana with rice. The sea bass was cooked to perfection: tender and clean tasting. The cataplana was filled with seafood with delicious broth. Outside of Uma (which is next door), this is the best seafood rice... My daughter and I ate here for lunch. She had shrimp w/ fries and salad and I tried the boiled calamari with roasted potatoes. Both were excellent! The place is small and quaint. If you like seafood give it a try!

This charming little restaurant is located in the Baixa or old neighborhood of downtown Lisbon on a pedestrian street full of quaint shops and restaurants. My wife had the grilled seabass which, as is common in Portugal, was very good. I had the seafood Cataplana which is a typical stew which was absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous... More

Excellent local restaurant. Food was excellently prepared and very tasty. I ordered the sea bass with potatoes and my husband ordered the veal. Both excellent.

We ate here based on the other positive reviews and boy it sure didn't disappoint. The first time we tried to eat here they were booked. We made a reservation for a future date and looked forward to our meal. Delicious! We got the highly reviewed seafood rice and that was an excellent choice.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
