First thing I remember from this restaurant was the cod fish. If you don't like salted cod, do not try this dish. The food was overall pretty good. Went there with my gf after reading much review. The outlook of this restaurant was not so inviting but the waiter was very humorous making the experience there very welcoming. We had... More

We came here a couple of times during our stay in Lisbon. Tried many different fish dishes, on all occasions they were fresh and tasty. For a change, this was the first place in Lisbon where they didn't try to trap us with the bread+chorizo starters. The beer was ice cold and got our tummies ready for all sorts of... More

This is what I like about tripadvisor: I would never have gone to this restaurant if I did not read the reviews. It is a small restaurant on a busy street in Alfama (near to the Se Cathedral), simple decor and very unassuming but oh the food is so good! Try the shrimp with garlic, they have 3 or 4... More

Great, funny, relaxed, welcoming, and family-like vibes from the staff make you feel right at home in this very authentic place. We wanted a good and simple, but not too heavy lunch. It turned out to be the perfect place for that. We had the creamed shrimp soup first. A hearty concoction with sweet shrimps - a bargain at only... More

We had to wait for a table, and so glad we did. The waiters were all such fun, not often we go out for a meal and our tweenager boys rav about it, we have a fussy eater and he ordered steak on a hot plate, this shocked us because normally it would be pizza, but it was a great... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
