One of the best Bacalhau a bras I have ever had! And the dark beer! Yummy! The inside seatings are modern, probably recently renovated, but very cozy. The very friendly service matches the quality of all the fish dishes.

My mother and I went for dinner, everything was great! Our server was awesome and so was our meal. We started with the tomato app, i loved that we could season it ourselves w salt, pepper, vinegar and oil. We both ordered the Sea Bass, it was perfect. My mom went earlier in the week for lunch and said it... More

We stumbled across this restaurant by chance. We had been walking around for an hour and decided to stop off for a drink. We ordered two large beers and was charged just 4 euros for the both. Having checked out the food menu we decided to stay and have a bite to eat. The food was not only delicious but... More

My husband and I ended up here one evening when the restaurant we wanted to try was closed. Very strange experience. All the waiters were older men, who seemed to have certain tables they served while blatantly ignoring anyone else. After our server took our order he disappeared...we received 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered and i have to... More

We felt ripped off after eating here they charged 3 euros for 3 sachets of butter and when we mentioned it to the manager he told us it was our problem. The food was below average. I would avoid this place as there are far better restaurants close by with much better service.

My daughter who these days work in Lisbon took us for a walk up the hilly Chiado district in Lisbon, just up from the central area close to Avenida Liberdade where you'll find the paradise for well to do shopping. Like most restaurants in this fabulous city from the outside it was not much more than a door for an... More

Food is awful, chef's salad means a small plate with old vegetables with crab sticks! The one and only is fresh goat cheese.

We happened on this restaurant following a visit to the Church of Sao Roque. I had the seabass on the bone and my partner, the sardines. Both were fabulous and came with boiled potatoes in their skins and broccoli. A little on the pricey side, but not crazy and the food was excellent.

Stopped there for a short lunch with the family. Warm and French speaking welcome. Very affordable and typical food. Lots of locals eating with us. Good grilled fish. A nice discovery.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
