Especially if it's your first time in Lisbon, it will be the perfect start to a perfect holiday. Cristina and Antonio (owners) and Antonio (best waiter ever) are unique characters. They are smart, funny and incomparable hosts. We travel to Lisbon every year but haven't found such service-minded restaurant owners and staff, at least not at their price range. We... More

Nikos, dear friend! We are glad to know that we introduced you to our nacional song Fado and that finaly you learnt how to like it and understand it, even without understanding the lyrics...That's the Portuguese soul what you felt! Madragoa is indeed a beautiful neiberwood ....but let us keep it secret....like that only a few can discover it and... More

RESTAURANT'S FAVOURITE REVIEW
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2016

Tucked away near the top of Rua da Esperanca (on the left if you approach from down-the-hill) this friendly restaurant serves wonderful and truly Portuguese food and is worth searching for. My black spaghetti with clams, mussel and prawns was perfect. Its great twist is that it serves a 'wine-of-the-day'. We each chose glasses of a wonderfully smooth. reasonably priced,... More

We visit Lisboa every year and Madragoa is among the very few restaurants we return to; it encompasses everything we adore about this city. The first time we dined at Madragoa, we felt sheer relaxation right from the beginning. The owners, Cristina and Antonio are so attentive, warm and humorous people, they made us feel like being at home.. Their... More

We had 3 nights in Lisbon and had dinner at the Madragoa Cafe in our last night. The service was exceptional from Antonio and his staff. It was a last minute booking but they still managed to fit us in. Each dish on the menu was explained and they made careful note of my wife's seafood allergy. The food and... More

We loved the food (eg the Cataplana with fish, and the deserts). The personnel is very nice and friendly. Few tables, feels like being at home. And the whole thing for a very decent price, approx 35 eur each for starter main course desert wine and water.

Went with family to this cosy place, owner and staff friendly and helpful. Food was local, fresh and plentiful, and the Fado was really absorbing and very listenable. The whole family had a fabulous evening, really worth a visit. Sausage platter, cod, were good, with a selection of starters. Good value for what we had.

This is a difficult review to write as the warmth of the welcome here is fantastic. The waiter was really friendly and we were impressed at the way he engaged with different groups in different languages. Similarly, the chef was also very warm and went round all of the tables asking everyone about their meals. The main catch was that... More

We really enjoyed our time there. The food is simple and delicious, the waiters are very nice and the chef is a character, she will make sure you enjoy your time for sure! We had such a nice experience that we went to their other location just a few blocks away the next day.

Magdragoa Cafe was the icing on the cake for our city break to Lisbon. A lovely stroll from our hotel along cobbled lanes to this small intermate restaurant. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, great ambience, incredible food and wine. We thought the place so good we went back again the following night! Thank you for making our trip... Description
The Madragoa Cafe is a place where you can find a traditional Portuguese cuisine, where the products used are fresh and Portuguese. The predominant wines are from the Douro region, however it is possible to find wines from other regions. The dishes are a selection of some of the best that each region of Portugal has to offer. The desserts are traditional and some are made at the restaurant. The affection with which clients are received, that comes from the heart. See you soon!
