This is a nice local restaurant alittle out of the town centre but well worth the 10-15 min walk. The star of the show is the wide variety of fish simplly but expertly prepared.

Excelent food. The best place to eat fish in Cascais. Nothing like it. Only superb. Will recommend to anyone

Away from the town centre, but recommended by the hotel where we were staying, a busy restaurant that serves excellent fish, great local wines and mainly used by locals appreciating really well cooked Portugese dishes in two very unpretentious large rooms. The display of ready...to cook fresh fish on the way in was an equally good sign and very appetising. The recommendations by the waiters are always worth following up!More

The fish was beautiful and fresh. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone. However, the absolute “must have” accompaniment for fish in the restaurant is the “açorda” (a type of bread sauce, quite traditional in Portugal). It was totally divine; the best, the lightest and...tastiest I have ever tried. Don’t miss it!More

Penultimate night in Portugal and we decided to treat ourselves. Searched Trip Advisor for a local recommendation and decided to give this restaurant a try. Perfect! Service was great, food was delicious and a local wine list, which included our currently favourite Alentejo wine -...a really nice bonus. Clearly a restaurant with a large local following too. Lots of people queuing to get a table - I am glad we got there early. We had a lovely evening - thank you 😊More

No doubt, Cascais is a great tourist town. We are here for a year and Vela Azul has become one of our favorites. It is outside of the tourist district in the Fisherman"s Village. It is a family run restaurant and if you sit in...the first room you can look into the kitchen and watch your meal be prepared. We watched the women preparing the food and the feeling was that we were watching what happens in every Portugese kitchen for dinner. Absolutely authentic with great service. Everything was fresh and the deserts were all home made and the service was excellent.More

Located off the beaten track this restaurant holds a simple premise - excellent fresh produce beautifully prepared in a traditional Portuguese style. If you, like me tend to be more a meat eater they also have some nice steaks - but you should try the...fish. Uncertain of what to order? Go for the grilled fish. The types of fish on offer vary every day depending on what has been caught. This is a family operation - which in Portugal usually means the best restaurants for good food, good service and cheap prices. The decor is unpretentious and functional with two dining areas, a small one as you enter and another room. As soon as you enter you will see all the different types of available. The Portuguese tend the leave the fish whole on display, this is so the locals can themselves judge the quality and freshness of the produce. A must visit, and if you're not a fish fan, you will certainly become one once you taste how fish is supposed to be prepared - no nonsense, rock salt, olive oil and a charcoal grill.More

We had dinner here last night. Traditional Portuguese cuisine with a great selection of fish which is displayed for you to choose from. Our waitress helped us choose fried fillets de groupa with tomato rice and grilled sole with spinach and boiled potatoes. We were...both delighted with our choices as the fish was fresh, tasty and tender. If you want to sample the local cuisine and atmosphere, try this restaurant - it's excellent.More
