Good regional food (we had the soup, the alcatra and a careta piece of cake for dessert) but somewhat far from being extraordinary. Friendly staff.

We visited this restaurant primarily on the recommendation of our hotel and also becasue it was walking distance from the hotel. We ate early so the restaurant was pretty empty. We were shown to our table by a gracious host. He suggested the soup, a cabbage and kale concoction, and that was delicious. So was the bread, olives, and cheese... More

Another couple told us about this restaurant. It looks like a mom n pop restaurant. Very homey. First thing you see at the back of the restaurant is a row of fresh fish on ice. I went up and chose the grouper. Oh my goodness! I am hungry just writing about it! Second of all, a whole fried fish showed... More

We were starving as we walked toward downtown Angra do Heroismo on our first day in town. We approached an elderly woman and said "cafe?" She pointed down the street and said something over and over in Portuguese that we just couldn't understand. She spoke no English, we spoke no Portuguese. Finally, she says "boat" and makes a sinking motion... More

Beautiful little restaurant with excellent food and service. This is an experience not to be missed. We ordered the traditional Alcatra (beef stew type dish) and it was delicious...tender, wonderfully seasoned meat. The owner was so pleasant and offered us after dinner liquors from the different islands of the Azores. We loved the Licor de Amora from Pico. They were... More

Yummy soup and appetizers. Only had sword fish because of the weather. Steak was good. Large portions, cheap prices. Nice waiter and seemed to be a family run business.

Local neighbor restaurant short walk from Terceira Mar Hotel. Has a very authentic feel to it. The Alcatra was my favorite on the island. The soup and wine were a nice extra touch. My husband had a steak and it was just O.K--stick with the traditional Alcatra and you will be happy!

We had dinner here our first night in town as it was close to our hotel. We had steak and red snapper with potatoes. Also, really good bread and sangria. We were the only ones in there. A cute place with good service and reasonable prices.

We walked by this place several times going into the city from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It was nicely decorated and felt cozy. We started with vegetable soup which was good. I had fresh grouper that tasted great but I had to deal with lots of bones. It was a whole fish split and... More
