To Expensive for the offer. The food was nice, fresh and simple. However, it was too expensive. There are other places in the island were you can eat as well for at least half price.

It's perfect. I can't even begin to describe how good it is. Also, has the most extensive wine menu in all the Azores, with some exquisite choices should you want to go there. The staff is amazing and helpful, the menu is simple and fresh...and the dishes are inconceivably good.More

We went here on the last night of our holidays - I wish we had gone on our first.. Wonderful meal, brilliant service.. Had we gone earlier, we would have gone more than once...

One restaurant not to miss if you visit the island. Very good food, very nice and friendly staff, wines by the dozen to choose from, desserts made in heaven, in sum a fantastic restaurant. A bit expensive but definitively worth every cent you pay.

Really enjoyed this meal. I ordered a bunch of starters instead of a meal and everything I got was just delicious. My meat eating boyfriend also ate most of the starters I ordered instead of his own. Fresh goat cheese, kind of bland but good,...garlic musrooms were very tasty, the vegetable tempura was quite good, and the fries were very well done. The wine we ordered was also very good. I'd probably come here again, it was very tastyMore

My birthday celebration dinner with friends so eagerly awaited! In no way were we disappointed. Our second memorable dinner visit to Saca-Rolhas Taberna in three years. A classical Azorean restaurant, very popular with local island residents offering a fabulous offering of Sao Miguel legendary dishes....Not the place to come for British holiday food! Understandably a fish biased menu but with meat and vegetarian options. Our starter selection of clams bulhao pato style. Very generous portions and nicely cooked. We had a white Pico wine accompaniment. Fabulous! Main course of Bacalhau cod- polvo octopus Laguarera classical Azorean dish. Heavy on the garlic served with tomato rice side dish. Fantastic, beautifully cooked and presentation. Still the best I have personally tasted. Washed down with Cartuxa Reservas red wine from Alentejo. What a combination! No desserts taken as main course portions were generous to say the least! Espresso coffee to finish. Service was very attentive throughout making it a good visit to this lovely, loud and vibrant Azorean establishment. Prices still competitive on the upper scale but quality more than compensates. Definitely recommended and we will return in the future for sure.More

So the porter at the hotel and the taxi driver were impressed that we were going to this restaurant last night (suggested by a local ahead of our visit). But we are not sure what the fuss is about. The food was good and the...wine over priced like most restaurants however we were waiting for the wow factor as we were told that it was “amazing“. The head waiter was good but the rest tried to rush us out the door to turn the table (we guess). Food was good like in most “above average” restaurants around the world. We were hoping for some Azorean magic.More

The Saca-rolhas although bot a budget restaurant deserves a visit. The grilled tuna belly is excellent, as well as the abrotea filetes or the grilled beef. The fish soup is also interesting. Regarding the wine choice there isn’t a list. You need to go a...round and look to shelves -not a friendly process that can bias you and it is intrusive to the others that are seated nearby.More

This is probably the best restaurant you can find on the San Miguel island. They have mature meat (it's not mentionned on the menu but you can ask for it) and excellent tuna fish. The price is a bit higher but the quality is really...exceptional. They also have a wide range of wines of all price categories (30-500 € per bottle). The service is also very good. Only the air conditioning is a bit strong.More

We had the tuna one day, and Chateaubriand the next. The food and service were amazing. And the desserts were to die for as well.
