We came here on the recommendation of one of the local taxi drivers. Sat downstairs, it was about half full, shared a bottle of wine from Pico that was delicious, as well as the mixed grill. The mixed grill included limpets, octopus, tuna, shrimp, swordfish, chicken, pork and beef with two kinds of sauce for dipping and butter. The meat/fish... More

It was suggested by an outgoing couple to split an order, which was great advise. We ordered the special mix of meat and fish. We were each given a salad, fries and dips with our hot stone. Included were pieces of tender beef steak, shrimp, pork tenderloin, chicken, limpets, squid and 2 or 3 different fish. At least 2 pieces... More

We ate here October 16 for dinner. Had the fish and meat combination which was a good choice. Very good service and the lava stones easy to cook on. Nice Pico white wine with dinner and chocolate mousse to conclude. <€50 for two.

My sister and I dined here last night on the occasion of the restaurant's 25th anniversary and were welcomed as part of the family. Helder looked after us, making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. It was a party for sure, we're not certain how we managed to get a reservation, but we are both grateful as we had... After the recent reviews we decided to give this a go for our one night on Horta this time. We'd tried the hot stones cooking method a couple of years previously in NZ. Relaxed atmosphere. We arrived just after 7pm on a Thursday with no reservation and they found us a table. Great menu choice for all. Simple way... pick... More

We were a big group (42) from Norway visiting Canto da Doca, and we had a great dinner. We, each of us, cooked tuna, white fish, squid, chicken, pork and beef on a hot stone and was served vegetables and fries in addition. Everything served quickly and friendly of the helpful staff.

If you want a relaxing evening cooking your own steak on a hot stone then this is it! Good value but you need to book on busy evenings.

Cook your own dish on a super hot polished stone. Meat dish was OK. My wife had a combination of meats. Expensive for value received considering they don't have to pay a chef.

This reminded me fondue in the states-cooking on a hot volcanic rock. Pick your meat(s) or a combination platter and get to work. The staff gives you bread, dipping sauce and salad, the rest is up to you. We had a lot of fun and great service.

We highly recommend this dinner spot! The restaurant has an upstairs (for smokers) and a downstairs (non-smoking). We ordered the assortment of fish/meat and also just the filet. Both were amazing! The server was really knowledgeable and funny, and spoke excellent english.
