Away from the noise of the square in a narrow back street but worth seeking out. Returning after a few years, lunch one day and dinner another, both very good as in the past. Friendly service without fuss and good house wine and not just to save money.

We visited this restaurant in February when the weather was cold and we wanted to eat indoors. We discovered it up a small side street just a couple of minutes from the main square and near to our hotel. When we went inside we were both struck by how cold it was indoors too so we kept our coats on... More

Had an excellent evening meal here - the food (garlic prawns, pork cheeks and piri piri chicken) were gorgeous and huge portions! The red house wine at 7.50 euros a bottle was really reasonable and very palatable. The service was excellent, a young lady from Nepal (apologies I can't remember her name) but she was so friendly and polite, she... More

Found this gem looking for another restaurant, it's just off the strip down a small lane. it doesnt look much it had one larger group in that were local and eat their every friday night and we weren't pressured by a tout. We had a wonderful meal of portuguese sardines, garlic bread, lamb chops and piri piri chicken with a... More

Found this place up a back street, well worth seeking out. The Seabass was perfect with plenty of veg. Don't let the appearance put you off - great local food and good housewine at 7.5 Euro whats not to like?

We wanted to find a nice 'Portuguese' type restaurant rather than the burger and chips type. This is ideal with a nice but quirky interior, friendly service and tasty well cooked food. Well done guys we enjoyed our evening.

We've been here twice now for the Piri Piri chicken which comes with salad and chips for a very reasonable price of €7.50.A lovely clean establishment with very friendly staff and of course the owner Joe.We will be returning soon for the blackout which sounds delicious.

Wow, if you do or don't like Pork, don't miss having some Black Pig at this homely place. We visited twice and each time the food was excellent, so we can also recommend the sea bass. Relaxed, good house wine and service. What more can you ask?

Tucked away from the square this lovely restaurant serving traditional Portuguese food. We had prawns and mussels for starter and fish cataplanna for main course which was really good. The owner was really friendly and the service was fantastic. Well worth a visit.

We found this restaurant on a day when it seems everyone decided to have their lunch in the madness of "the square". We decided to sit inside as there was the odd drop of rain in the air. Our waiter welcomed us and took our drinks order then gave us time to decide on our meals. I ordered black pig... More
