We popped in here while “stuck” in Sines due to an orca attack on our boat. My friend had the vegetarian lasagne which she liked while I went for the octopus salad starter followed by pork with clams. I have to say the pickles with the octopus (Polvo) was lovely - easily as tasty as a Galician speciality. And the pork was delicately spiced and very moreish. Customer service was faultless. Our waitress had great English and did her best to communicate with us (my accent is Irish). It’s a small family diner, popular with the locals, that serves good food at reasonable prices. What more could you want?

Nice surprise

We arrived quite late to Sines not expecting something to be open but found A Nau for a little snack. Located in the center of Vasco Da Gama’s birthplace the little restaurant spread nice vibes hosting some families and kids. Both the bacalhau and the sword fish were really good for an absolutely fair price. The waitress was not only cute but also very friendly :* we definitely enjoyed ending up there

Authentic food with charm

You will not miss if you choose this small restaurant. Locals eat here and that's most valuable information that you may have when choosing places to eat. Vegetable soup was very tasty and creamy. Swordfish was fresh and perfectly grilled. Local red wine was excellent companion to the meal. Reccomended!

Very welcoming and friendly. The fish was very fresh and there was plenty with a great welcome platter. The hosts spent time explaining the menu and were not rushed. A very enjoyable and pleasant evening. Would definitely eat here again.

The staff were very friendly and even attentive, but there are some things to improve. We opted for grilled coastal squid and we chose fries as a side dish and were disappointed as it was pre-fried potatoes and only two squids to taste. (€18 each dish.) For our son we chose a hamburger on the plate and despite it being well served, the hamburger was visibly packaged and we paid 10.50, which would perhaps be justified if it was from a butcher and even then it would be expensive. ☹️ We were a little disappointed.

We ordered bread, olives and butter for entrance, super common and was the best we ate ⁇ we ordered garlic fried shrimp and the taste was bad knew to clearly burned garlic made by someone who does not know what is doing. Restaurant is a tavern, there is no presentation at all. Friendly staff but horrible food. We ordered soup which came to the table cold and for a second course some grilled squid which was very bad, not clean and poorly cooked. I left without eating them and had to pay for them. I had already read comments like this here but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt... Anyway, bad choice.

Very good service and very friendly. Fair price and traditional cuisine. Homemade dessert also very popular. The "Carne de porco à Aleintejeina" plate could have had better meat "of the day", otherwise the fish was excellent.

Even though the place may not look like #1 to go to we had an absolutely excellent dinner there. The dishes are kept traditional and simple but super tasty nonetheless. Service is very friendly. Prices are really cheap. Would really recommend.

Very interesting room. Pleasant staff. Very (really) slow service, having forgotten one of the orders due to confusion in the notes they took (hence the 3). Very tasty food (cuttlefish with ink but a vine without ink; Portuguese-style meat and fried squid). Two interesting starters (fried cuttlefish and Bulhão Pato-style clams) and very correct. We chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel and the dishes of the day pleased us, but we quickly became disappointed with the low quality of the food. Horse mackerel that looked more like sardines and even an omelette with too much melted cheese. I would recommend taking a few more steps to the restaurants near the castle.
