Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although the staff were friendly and helpful and the fare on offer up to the usual good National Trust standard, I can only mark this as average because (not the staff's fault), the very small serving area. OK if you are only in for a...drink when it's quiet but, at lunch time, the queue was outside the door. Dog friendly and the heating on a miserable March day was very welcome but the plastic seating!!!More

So sad that the tearoom is no longer scooping Callestic Farm ice cream. The tub just tasted of the wooden ‘spoon’ under the lid. It has long been my treat after a walk in the beautiful gardens. Not again. I’ll have to keep that treat...for Trellisick.More

Dear RuthgW928KF, Many thanks for sharing your experience of our newly taken over teahouse. I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your Callestick tub. I'm sure you will be happy to hear that we will be serving scooped ice cream imminently due to...More

The service was very slow and if you come here expect extortionate prices for a little amount of food. It tastes good but £5 for a sandwich that you could get in Sainsbury’s is ridiculous. Child size portions with London prices.

When I went to order at the counter I was served by a very po-faced woman in glasses who was not at all welcoming and when I asked for a slice of cake she gave it to me on a flat brown paper bag. I...was speechless for a few seconds and then I asked her for a paper plate, to which she replied "we don't have plates"! I then ordered 2 Americano's with hot milk on the side. She was not happy as she wanted to pour the milk in herself. I then asked for 4 white sugars but that was a no no as well, "we don't have sachets" she said, and wanted to pour it in herself. She then very begrudgingly poured some hot milk into a small paper cup and some sugar in another. When my wife had eaten the sponge cake on the paper bag she noticed that the jam from the cake had soaked through the bag and into the wooden table. Added to which people were coming and going from tables without them being sanitised. This is not the sort of service we are used to here in Cornwall. I know this cafe is a concession but the National Trust really need to sort this out. There are no Covid requirements that say you have to use disposables in cafes etc. so no excuses for this.More

I was aware this cafe is a concession but did expect a National Trust standard of food and drink. My cheese scone was so small and flat it was more like a cheese biscuit and our coffees were mediocre and tepid.

We visited the garden and decided to have a drink and cake. We felt the drinks were very small and quite expensive for the size. Friendly staff. We will probably not go back.

Popped in for a much needed rest after a visit to Glendurgan Gardens. Had a really good treacle tart and clotted cream and the other half had the lemon sponge which she declared to be wonderful and moist. Great tea too.

Surprised not great as a National Trust cafe - almost an afterthought and a grotty one with little choice at that

This tea room is just outside the entrance to Glendurgan Garden, meaning that if you want to use it during your visit you have to exit the gardens and re-enter. It looks shabby, with some garish bright green plastic chairs inside, and the counter is...very short. Along with a slow member of staff serving, this meant a long queue built up even on a day of fairly poor weather - I dread to think what it must be like in the summer holidays. Our soup was over-priced, and the bread roll came with just one tiny tab of butter - not exactly generous. As with the gardens themselves, I'm afraid there is no comparison with neighbouring Trebah which is a hundred times better.More

Very pleasant surroundings, especially as weather mild enough to sit out. Carpark was pretty full, but easily found a vacant table and didn't take too long to get served.Good coffee with delicious bakes. Then returned for lunch which was equally as good! Couldn't quite work...it out though, car park full, but we saw few people whilst strolling round, so, don't let a queue for parking put you off!!More

Two of us called in after our visit to the gardens. A refreshing cup of tea with a delicious piece of carrot and walnut cake touched the spot. Charming staff.

The cheese cream tea was lovely - cheese scone warm from the oven with cream cheese and red onion confit. The carrot cake was excellent - I'd love the recipe. We didn't find a scone to beat this in the area. Vegetable crumble looked yummy...but was sold out 😦More

The team rooms are set beside the National Trust gardens of Glendurgan but you can visit the tea room without going to the gardens. If you are not a National Trust member there is a £2 car park fee. But the cafe is excellent with...a good selection of meals and snacks. The home made hummus was fabulous.More
