This was my first visit to a chocolate house in Brussels and after a day traveling this was a real treat on a cold December evening. It is located on the Grand Sablon which is a charming little street which contains amongst other things lots of chocolate shops!! I’m really glad I picked this one to visit first. It was... More

Ok, you know the posh Belgian chocolaty names (Neuhaus, Godiva, Daskalides and the much more democratically priced Leonidas pralines - often with open selling counters. Wittamer is another name to get in your little black notebook, conveniently located on a charming and rather central church square (antiques, lots of al fresco terraces). The most sophisticated chocolates, but also 'patisserie', macarons,... More

I went with a group with afternoon and all had pastries, which were delicious and I wasn't even hungryn or in the mood for sweets particularly. I had a dish with vanilla ice cream and meringues which was lovely. The ice cream was not outstanding but good and the dish was very light. Another gust had something similar with raspberry... More

Wanted to enjoy some hot chocolate after our early morning stroll around the sablon area and spotted Wittamer because of its cute store frontage. We were not disappointed - the beverage came in these petite china cups steaming hot. Very rich and a decadent treat. We will never find something like this in the U. S. so we savored every... More

I visited this bakery after a chocolate tour where the tour guide told me it was the best pasty place in Brussels. The pastries were absolutely beautiful and everyone working in the shop was extremely helpful and very nice. However, when we went upstairs to the restaurant, my whole experience was ruined by the unblievably rude waitress. I did not... More

This is one of the last family-owned chocolate and confectionery shops in Brussels, something to be much treasured. Their master chocolatier, Michael Lewis-Anderson, also known as the "Cake King", is a true genius and the most wonderful person. There are probably chocolate shops on every other block in Brussels, but definitely get your chocolate here. It's one of the best... More

"Wittamer" is a famous traditional bakery, "chocolate artist", caterer and café. Some tourists prefer his competitor - and newcomer - on the same Place du Grand Sablon, "Pierre Marcolini", who is now in fashion. But "Wittamer " offers still high quality. And drinking a hot chocolate in the 1st floor - café at Wittamer's, for example on a cold day,... More

A classic! If you enjoy pastry, this is the place to be. Know it since I was a kid, and has always been very good to excellent. Sit on the terrace and enjoy, when the weather is nice. Or buy and take your cake home with you.

With an outside terrace on the Petit Sablon and some of the best chocolates and cakes in Brussels what's there not to like?

This is a small tearoom with seats mostly outside. Ample selection of desserts and sandwiches very fresh and rich flavours no matter what you pick. The chicken curry sandwich was delectable. The soufflé in particular was very expensive but very good. Prices are a little above average but worth the visit.
