Went out of my way to find this place. Very disappointed in service and especially in tea: pot of hot water with broken lid; in French you say "pipi de chat" for very weak tea - well, this was weaker than weak. Had to ask for a proper pot and proper tea, and a serviette that I never got. The... More

Very good bread, pastries and cakes; luxury breakfast; home-made chocolate. Down-side: horribly delicious and fattening.

Called in for lunch and coffee. Ordered quiche for 3 and 1 omelette. All served with fresh salad. Good choice of dishes. Efficient and friendly service.

Never had an issue with service in Au Vatel, whether it is for takeaway or eating in. I regularly go for the soup which is always delicious, as are the cakes and pastries. Perhaps a little over-priced on some of the menu items (sandwiches or salads)

I pass by Vatel's colourful counter almost daily so I gave in to temptation a number of times, but it was only recently that I realised there's more to it than just cakes and pastries. The sandwiches have fresh, quality ingredients in interesting combinations, e.g. salmon+ apple slices+dill+sour cream sauce= amazing. Today we tried their lunch and the peas soup... More

Delicious quiches and so many flavour options to choose from. Very generous with quiche fillings. One piece was not quite enough, two is perhaps a little much. Great value for money, good coffee. friendly service. great location.

We ate here to avoid paying costly breakfast fees in our hotel. We ended up eating here both mornings of our stay. Staff were so polite, cakes looking amazing but we just had the breakfast deal with 2x croissants, orange juice & coffee. Lovely little fairy lit setting and great coffee. If I ever happen to be in that area... More

I ordered a breakfast option and I chose a tea (included in the breakfast formula), asking if I can have the fresh mint tea option. The garcon said is possible. In the end, I had to pay extra 90 cents for this flavour because in the menu is not mention the tea is just normal tea.It wouldn't be a problem... More

Pastries are good, no doubt, and so is hot chocolate with chantilly cream, but they are way too expensive. Also, avoid sitting there to eat or at least ask for the price in advance, so you make sure what to expect.
