After about 15 minutes, we had a amuse, we saw a Mouse running in the restaurant, along the bar. So.... We informed the waiter. We decided to leave and... More

This was our last big meal in Belgium before ending up at the Sheraton at the Brussels airport. Knowing nothing about Mechelen, we walked around a good bit and the old hotel next door grabbed our eye and inside was this little restaurant/cafe. It looked so quaint - antique mixed with some modern. There were quite a few patrons inside,... More

Very nice surroundings, you can even eat outside in the central court. Old building with historical settings. The menu is quite balanced, even for vegetarians. Specialities are Mechelse koekoek (Large chicken from Belgian breed) with sauce on a base of Belgian beer...warmly recommended!

For Belgian standards this is only average. Food is like you cook at home not bad but ordinary. The waiter who served this evening was really impolite and not willing to answer our questions.
