If we had just walked past we probably wouldn't have gone in but did our research and booked online, staff seemed surprised we had booked but found us some seats and we were away. It was busy but not overcrowded, you will share tables but we didn't feel hemmed in. Bar area seems to be populated with locals which is... More

It's moody and very central, the food is quite good. Nice for a quick snack or lunch. Have sits inside. Near Anne Frank Museaum.

Feels like a real local place and the staff immediately make you feel at home. We popped in for beer and a sit down, and ended up having lunch (Amsterdam meatballs and toasted sandwiches followed by delicious apple pie). It was so good we ended up going there a couple of days later!

Delicious food in a surprising package. We weren't sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised by the food and the atmosphere. It was like grandma was cooking and bringing us dinner. The waitstaff/bar staff were very friendly.

A wanderful place in the centre of Jordan district. A typical local place where you can have a nice brunch or just a coffee and pofertjes. It deserves more attention on tripadvisor. It makes you feel one of the locals.

This cute little restaurant was part of a food tour. We stopped in for Pannenkoeken and they were excellent! I continued to try them at other places around the city, but those at Cafe du Prins were lighter, fluffier, and just plain better! I've been back every time I'm in A'dam.

Waiting time of 45 min, quality of the food was at that point irrelevant... Ok if you want to rest your feet after strolling the streets, but if you have better ideas to spend your time in Amsterdam, you should consider another place to eat

We had the cheese fondue which was delicious. The service was also very good. Will definitely visit again, as a newcomer to Amsterdam.

With lots of other cafes in the neighbourhood, we opted for de Prins after looking in the window and noting the friendly buzz -- busy, cozy, soft lighting - making for a good seeing and by the positive buzz, hope for a good meal. We were not disappointed. Enough choice on the menu for a vegetarian with good options for... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
