Located of the beaten path, we went in for an early dinner. The owner/server was really uninterested! The menu is like a book, a picture menu right out of the 1990s. The food was ok and just too expensive, Beef chili, very basic, was 17 Euro, the 'Peking Duck' was just fried duck. Nope.

This place was lovely. The food was plentiful and service warm and friendly. We had the Vietnamese spring rolls and trust me, you will want to order two portions! They are easily the best Vietnamese spring rolls I've had. We also ordered the chicken satay skewers and some prawn dumplings which were yummy too! I wouldn't order the crispy duck... More

The first impression that I got walking into the restaurant was the smell of the fish sauce in the air. Generally one do not want to have to smell this odor in the general area of the restaurant but maybe on the dishes themselves, so we were a bit worried that we will walk out of the place with the... Disappointed by all the food I ordered in this restaurant is a start. The weather was bad and there were long queues outside other restaurants, so we decided to go into this restaurant to escape from the rain. Apart from the beer and fresh coconut water, the food didn't come with satisfaction. The spring rolls were filled with soy bean... More

I have been there many times and usually left feeling very satisfied with both food and service. This is a good restaurant, serving genuine Vietnamese food but for the last couple of times I have been, the food has not been as good, the service has also not been as alert or attentive as experienced some years ago when I... We went to Welcome Restaurant basically because Amsterdam was so superbusy that weekend / evening, that we didn't want to wander too far from our homebase. It was quite alright, but nothing special. My curry was slightly bland / not spicy enough, but then I guess it's cooked with European taste in mind. Bruce, the crass Australian, and our friends... More

Good food, fresh products, friendly service. Right on the Zeedijk, the best place to eat Asian food in Amsterdam. Go here, you won't regret it :)

Near Nieuwmarkt and the red light district. Small place and very crowded. Staff is nice and reserved. Oriental style cuisine, a mix of vietnamese, chinese...................... Food is well prepared and tasty. One of the many oriental restaurants, doesn't stand out from the crowd.

Had dinner here with my boyfriend at the weekend as we were curious to try some vietnamese food. The restaurant is a quiet and mixed atmosphere nice and cosy at the front and then more lively at the back as tables are closer. The staff were polite and quick but a little reserved but no complaints. We had so much... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
